Chapter 154 The Other Way
Third–Person POV:

A pack like the Graves Pack… Most of the time, Lillian couldn’t make sense of it either. As the Luna of the largest pack in Gilneas City, who did Eleanor even need to butter up?
But she had that whole act down pat–sucking up to those above her and looking down on everyone else.
Especially with Margaret–Eleanor was downright scared of getting on her bad side.
When Eleanor heard Lillian’s remark, her breath hitched. “Why can’t that woman just stay down for once?
“You think Iris‘ mother is finally done for? Think again, Lillian. She’ll dig herself out of this mess in no time.
“And stop comparing yourself to Iris. If I were you, I’d know better than to stick around the Graves Pack.”
Lillian went silent.
Dig herself out? No way… right?
That was a major scandal, and Margaret had just landed in the Western Continent. Could she really have smoothed things over that fast?
What did she find some new powerful ally to cozy up to over there?
Lillian had to admit, Margaret really knew how to work the system.
No wonder the whole town whispered that she’d built her empire by sleeping her way to the top.
But this time, she could barely get around when she arrived in the Western Continent. Was she even in any shape to pull that off?
Eleanor’s voice cut back in. “Iris is in a really dark place right now, and her pup isn’t doing well either. Quit being so selfish, hogging Julian all to yourself. You’re perfectly fine–what’s the harm in letting him visit the hospital?”
Lillian shot back, “No harm at all. If you can get him to go, that’s on you. But if he won’t, don’t pin it on me.”
Like she was the one keeping Julian chained up.
Everything Eleanor said made it sound like Lillian was clinging to him, refusing to let go.
Before Eleanor could fire back, Lillian let out a sharp laugh. “You know what? I’d love to have the sense to walk away from the Graves Pack.
“Then go ahead–get Julian to agree to break our bond. Hell, I’d leave Gilneas City altogether if that’s what it takes. I’ve got plenty of sense.”
The moment the words left her mouth, the bedroom door swung open
Julian stood in the doorway, his expression dark, a glass of juice in his hand.
The look he gave Lillian was ice–cold.

Clearly, he’d heard every word she’d just said.
On the other end, Eleanor was so furious she was shouting curses before slamming the phone down.
Listening to the dial tone, Lillian just shrugged at Julian, then tossed her phone onto the bed.

Julian strode forward, his long legs eating up the space between them. He set the juice down on the nightstand, bent down, grabbed Lillian by the wrist, and hauled her into his arms as if she weighed nothing.
Lillian struggled. “Have you lost your mind? Let go of me.”
One hand locked around her wrist, the other gripping her waist.
His Alpha aura wrapped around her, pinning her in place..
When she couldn’t break free, she glared up at him. “What?”
Even staring into those dangerous eyes, she didn’t flinch..
Right then, Julian looked like he wanted to devour her whole.
He was losing it–really losing it–over Lillian’s constant talk of leaving.
Julian released her wrist and grabbed her chin instead. “What was that about having sense?”
Lillian tried to twist away, to turn her face from his grip.
But the next second, his mouth crashed down on hers. She tried to dodge, but there was no escaping an Alpha’s possessiveness.
A sharp sting bloomed on her lip, followed by the coppery taste of blood.
Lillian slapped him across the face.
“Are you out of your damn mind?”
Before she could react, he had her pinned to the bed, kissing her relentlessly, all Alpha dominance and no escape.
By the time he finally pulled back, Lillian was dizzy, gasping for air.
She’d barely caught two breaths when he seized her chin again.
“Did that hurt?”
Lillian spat out, “You’re insane!”
Hearing her sharp little mouth curse at him like that-
Julian laughed. It was a low, rough sound.
Truth was, before Lillian started acting up this time, they’d lived together for years and he’d never once heard her sweat
Back then, even when she was mad, it never amounted to much.
But this version of her was all edges, sharper than a mouthful of jalapeños.

He let out a quiet, humorless chuckle. “Yeah, I’m sick. I’m insane. You’re driving me crazy.”
Lillian stayed silent.
Julian really was losing it–and Lillian was the one pushing him over the edge.
