Chapter 155 Missing Pup

ThirdPerson POV:

Lillian shot him a sharp look. Shouldn’t you be swamped right now?

If things were going as expected, Julian’s company ought to be in complete chaos at the moment. Yet here he was, still hovering around her.

Julian let out a low sigh, his voice edged with fatigue. I am swamped. But you matter more.

As he spoke, he leaned in, resting his chin lightly on her slender shoulder.

In that moment, he seemed every bit the Alpha who’d been grinding through the day, seeking some small comfort from his mate.

Not so long ago, Lillian would have offered that comfort without hesitation.

Now, though, her tone remained detached. Break the bond. That’ll solve plenty of your problems, too.

Juliah went still. His breath caught, and he took a second to let the words sink in. Then he cupped her chin, forcing her to meet his gaze. What are you saying?

What did she meanending the bond would make his problems go away? Was she implying she had something to do with the mess his company was in right now?

Lillian stayed silent, just watching him calmly, and that quiet felt louder to Julian than any accusation.

He gripped her shoulders, his voice dropping. Talk to me. What’s going on?

Just sever the bond. It’s straightforward,Lillian replied evenly.

No matter how Julian pressed or what angle he tried, her answer stayed the same: break the bond.

His eyes narrowed. “This is Finn’s doing, isn’t it?

Lillian said nothing

To get out of the bond, you had Finn sabotage the company’s projects? Hit me from both sides at once?Julian’s voice turned dangerously cold.

Leave Finn out of this,Lillian shot back.

The instant the words left her mouth-

Julian swept her up and tossed her onto the bed.

Lillian gritted her teeth. This guy’s really lost it.

He stalked over to the window, then turned and pinned her with an icy stare. You’re something else, Lillian

Without another word, he spun on his heel and strode out of the room.

Psycho,Lillian muttered under her breath.

Honestly, Julian never failed to amaze her. Every time things got intense between them, he somehow dragged Finn into it. After all those years as brothers, Finn really drew the short straw.

A short while later, Helen entered with a glass of fresh juice, followed by a maid ready to tidy up.

Lillian glanced at the drink and waved it off. Take it away. I don’t want it.

Please don’t worry, Luna. We prepared two glassesthe Alpha already drank from the other. It’s perfectly safe,Helen explained softly.

Earlier at dinner, when Lillian had asked, Is this poisoned?Julian had taken it as distrust toward everyone in the Graves Pack. But he’d misunderstood.

After Lillian had made Julian finish that bowl of oatmeal herself, she’d sent a clear warning to the entire pack.

Catherine had risked everything to drive Lillian out before, and Lillian had nearly taken her grandson’s life in return. No matter how much Catherine despised her now, she wouldn’t dare touch Lillian’s food.

It’s not about poison. I just don’t want any,Lillian insisted.

The Alpha instructed me to watch you drink it, Luna,Helen said, shifting uncomfortably.

Lillian rolled her eyes. He’s unbelievable.

Why go through so much trouble looking after a woman who fought him at every turn? Didn’t it exhaust him?

Finally, seeing Helen’s uneasy expression, Lillian picked up the glass and drained it.

Just then, the growl of an engine sounded outside. Julian was leaving.

Lillian set down the glass, moved to the window, and watched as the car pulled awaya sleek, black Maybach.

Her phone buzzed in her hand.

A message from Julian flashed on the screen. Behave. Don’t even think about running.

Lillian clenched her jaw. Unbelievable.

As Julian’s car disappeared down the drive, a faint, almost imperceptible smile touched her lips.

Helen watched her with concern. Luna

Leave,Lillian said coolly.

Helen tried to persuade her not to clash with Julian any longer, but one look at Lillian’s face made her bite back her words

She simply nodded. Call if you need anything.”

Once the maid finished cleaning, she followed Helen out. The door clicked shut, leaving Lillian alone.
