At the Hospital, Eleanor and Hilda returned from the doctor’s office, stepping into the hallway just as Julian was leaving Iris‘ room.
The moment Eleanor spotted Julian, her eyes reddened further. “Julian.”
Hilda echoed softly, “Julian.”
Julian stood with his hands tucked into the pockets of his slacks. Tall and imposing, his gaze swept over Eleanor and Hilda with an icy detachment–a look that felt more like judgment than recognition.
That stare sent a chill down Hilda’s spine.
Her credit card was still frozen, funds were running dangerously low, and with the Graves Pack facing one crisis after another, now was hardly the time to bring up her own troubles.
The more she thought about it, the more her anger toward Lillian simmered.
That wretched woman had dragged her into this whole mess.
“Iris slit her wrists.” Julian’s voice cut through the silence, cold and edged with threat. “Why weren’t you with her?”
There was a distance in his tone, as though he were addressing strangers rather than pack.
The weight of his words seemed to press the air from Eleanor and Hilda’s lungs.
Hilda stayed silent, too unnerved to speak.
Eleanor finally replied, “The Hayes Pack had attendants watching over her.”
Mentioning the Hayes Pack carried a trace of resentment in her voice.
What was Margaret thinking implying the Graves Pack couldn’t care for Iris properly?
Margaret had taken off for the Western Continent herself, yet still sent her own people to monitor things here
Probably her problems weren’t resolved, and now Eleanor found herself bristling at every small irritation
On top of it all, the pups kept falling ill, one after another
She was worn thin from putting out fires
Julian didn’t respond
He turned and strode back toward ins room, Eleanor and Hilda hurrying after him
Iris and Edith were deep in discussion when Edith leaned closer, voice low “However this plays out, you need to keep your composure. Everything hinges on what happens next.”

Iris gave a shaky nod, distress written across her face. “I know.”
Edith pressed on. “We have to use this situation with the pup to make Julian personally send Lillian to lockup.”
“You’re right.” Iris murmured.
The moment the words left her mouth, the hospital room door slid open with a sharp hiss.
Ins and Edith froze, hearts leaping as they looked toward the entrance.
Julian stood there, a wave of cold intensity rolling off him.
Under his penetrating stare, both women felt their pulses quicken.
Seeing him in the doorway, Iris‘ heart hammered–especially when his sharp, frosty eyes met hers.
Had he heard them?
“E–Ethan?”
After a beat, her eyes welled up with tears, glistening as they trailed down her cheeks.
The crying was perfectly timed, each tear falling with practiced ease.
Julian’s gaze dropped to the bandage wrapped around her wrist, stained with a faint seep of blood.
His eyes narrowed.
Earth tensed under that look, every muscle going rigid.
ins, too, felt exposed, as if his stare could peel back every layer of her pretense.
“When… when did you get here?” she stammered, panic threading her voice.
Julian’s tone was deceptively calm. “Are you scared?”
At the word “scared“, Inc‘ heart beat even faster.
She could barely hold his gaze now.
Julian tilted his head stightly “What are you afraid of?”
“N–nothing! I’m not afraid of anything!”
But even as she denied it, her frembling hands betrayed her Edith looked no steadier
They had been bold enough to use the missing pup as part of their scheme, but the truth was, both were terrified at Julian discovering their plot
Everyone in Gilneas City knew Julian’s reputation ruthless, decisive, and unforgiving when crossed
If he found out they had manipulated the pup’s disappearance neither wanted to imagine the consequences

Chapter 165 Guards
They had rehearsed this moment again and again.
Deep down, Iris understood that Julian’s protectiveness over pups stemmed from the loss of his brother Ethan years ago.
Summoning what courage she had left, she met Julian’s eyes, tears still streaming.
He held her in a cold, unyielding stare.
Just then, Eleanor stepped out from behind Julian. “What’s going on in here?”
With the situation around Iris‘ mother possibly nearing resolution, Eleanor had slipped back into her role as protector.
She moved closer to the bed and softened her voice. “You must never do something like this again, understand?”
“Eleanor…” Iris leaned into the comfort, playing the part of the wounded, vulnerable she–wolf perfectly.
Eleanor drew her into an embrace, gently patting her back.
Iris sniffled against her shoulder. “When will we find the pup?”
Her tears fell anew, painting her as the grieving mother, bereft and broken.
Eleanor fell silent, unsure how to answer. She glanced toward Julian, seeking direction.
His expression was tense, jaw set.
nstead of replying, he asked coldly, “Where are the guards?”
Previously, a full security detail had been posted outside Iris‘ door, with female guards inside to prevent any outbursts.
But now, the hallway was empty.
The chill in Julian’s voice was unmistakable.
Eleanor cleared her throat. “Iris‘ mother returned earlier. She saw all the guards and… wasn’t pleased.”
