Chapter 166 Suspicion
Third–Person POV:
It was all because of Margaret that Eleanor had decided to dismiss all those security guards in the first place.
She never could have imagined things would turn out this way.

Now, Eleanor deeply regretted sending them away. If she’d kept them in place, today’s disaster might never have happened.
Honestly, the whole situation had left her utterly drained.
Julian turned to Thomas, who was standing behind him. “Have everyone return to their posts.”
“Yes, Alpha.”
Thomas gave a firm nod.
Watching Julian coldly tighten the restrictions around her–so impersonally, so finally–Iris felt hot tears begin to fall, one after another, completely beyond her control.
“Ethan… How could you treat me like this?”
Julian’s eyes narrowed slightly.
Faced with his icy demeanor, Iris lowered her gaze. “My pup… What about my pup?” Her voice was thick with grief.
Eleanor looked at Julian as well. “When are you going to find the pup? When will you bring him back?”
“My poor pup… Wah, wah…”
Eleanor’s pressing questions and Iris‘ relentless crying struck Julian’s eardrums like sharp cracks of thunder. His breathing grew heavier and heavier.
The missing pup…
“If my pup doesn’t come back… I don’t want to live anymore. Wah-” Iris sobbed.
That line-“I don’t want to live anymore“-sent a deeper chill through Julian’s expression.
Right at that moment, Eleanor felt the same way. “Fine. Then none of us will go on. I’ll die right here with you.”
Iris was performing, but Eleanor meant every word. If Iris‘ pup wasn’t found, she truly had no will left to continue. She felt she had failed her deceased son. Lately, all of this had pushed her past her limit.
Julian’s face darkened further “Enough!” He’d reached his limit, too.
First, Lillian was causing chaos everywhere, burning down anything in her path. Now, Iris was threatening suicide, and Eleanor was piling on the dramatics.
To top it off, the Graves Group was being hit with one crisis after another. It felt like his entire world had been turned upside down.
He wasn’t in the mood to coddle or comfort them. Without another word, he turned and strode straight out of the hospital room.

Seeing his dismissive attitude, Eleanor and Iris grew even more agitated. “Where do you think you’re going now?”
With everything in such disarray at the hospital, was he really still thinking about that Lillian?

At that moment, Eleanor couldn’t even put into words how much she despised Lillian. She wanted to tear her apart. In her mind, Lillian was the root cause of everything falling apart.
“To find the pup,” Julian replied coolly, not breaking his stride. “Did you expect me to just wait here at the hospital for her to wander back on her own?”
Iris fell silent.
When Eleanor heard he was going to search for the pup, her anger flared again. “What do you mean, ‘find the pup‘? Lillian is the one who took her! Make her give the pup back!”
Her only answer was the fading sound of his footsteps down the corridor.
Eleanor was left seething, her breath coming in short, angry bursts. “We barely got several words in, and he just walks away…”
“Eleanor…” Iris looked up at her, eyes swimming with fresh tears.
Hearing the fragile voice, Eleanor glanced down at Iris‘ tear–streaked face. She remembered Iris had called Julian “Ethan” again, and it grated on her slightly. But seeing the girl’s obvious distress over her lost pup, she held her tongue.
Instead, she offered what comfort she could. “Don’t worry. They’ll find the pup soon. She wouldn’t dare harm her.”
Iris collapsed into Eleanor’s embrace. “If my pup doesn’t come back alive… I’ll really end it all, Eleanor. I will.”
“I know, I know. Don’t think that way. She’ll come back. She will,” Eleanor murmured, her own heart aching as she patted Iris‘ back.
But just then, as Iris buried her face in Eleanor’s shoulder, her eyes met Edith’s over Eleanor’s back. In that fleeting moment, a shared glint of triumph passed between them.
Julian sat in the back of the car, smoking one cigarette after another. The cold intensity radiating from him was palpable.
Thomas, feeling the tension, spoke up a little nervously. “Alpha, the situation at the company is deteriorating”
“The Langley Pack again?”
“Yes.”
Thomas nodded.
The Langley Pack–first, they had stolen the Nirvana Project bid, and now they were circling again. It seemed like they had specifically targeted the Graves Group’s operations over the past few days.
The Langley Pack. The Livingston Pack.
Turning the connection between the two over in his mind, Julian’s aura grew increasingly aggressive.
Not long after Julian’s departure, all the security guards were promptly reinstated. Eleanor and Hilda left the hospital shortly after.

Seeing the guards back in position, Iris was so furious she could barely catch her breath.
“If anything comes up, have him contact you directly. And be careful,” Iris instructed Edith in a hushed tone, mindful of the guards posted outside.
Edith nodded. “Don’t worry, Miss.”
With so many of Julian’s guards watching, any move they made would have to be exceptionally careful.
“Earlier, when you looked at Julian… did it seem like he heard anything?” Iris asked quietly, the fear still lingering.
Recalling the scene, Edith’s expression tightened. She thought for a moment, then shook her head. “No, I don’t think so.”
If Julian had overheard everything, he wouldn’t have simply walked away like that.
Iris had come to the same conclusion. The heavy stone of anxiety in her chest loosened a fraction. “We still need to be extremely careful from now on.”
The scare had been real. For a moment, she was certain Julian had heard everything. The look on his face had made her tremble so violently she couldn’t stop.
Julian was on his way to see Finn. Thomas was at the wheel, while Julian sat with a cigarette between his fingers, shrouded in silence for the entire ride.
It wasn’t until they stopped at a red light that he finally spoke, his voice low. “Back there… she was scared, wasn’t she?”
The “she” was unmistakably Iris. When she had faced him earlier, Julian had clearly sensed the fear rolling off her.
