Chapter 169 Bail
Third–Person POV:
Julian had completely lost his mind.
He was going around biting people like a rabid wolf.

Paul didn’t say anything else. Then Finn’s voice came through the line. “Julian got himself roughed up. Whether you want to come post bail or not is up to you.”
That one phrase–roughed up–said it all.
This wasn’t a one–sided fight. They’d both gone at each other.
Lillian replied, “I’m really sorry about this.”
Even if both had thrown punches, Julian was the one who’d shown up at Finn’s place. Wasn’t he supposed to be at the hospital because of Iris and the pup? And then he went after Finn?
He sure had energy to spare…
Finn’s tone was dry. “You know how he gets. It’s not like you didn’t know before.”
Lillian went quiet.
When Finn said that, she felt a sharp pang in her chest.
Yeah. She knew exactly how Julian was. She’d learned that well over the years they’d been mates.
That was just him–when he was upset, he dragged everyone down with him. It happened with personal matters, and it happened with pack business too.
Lillian steadied her voice. “Either way, I owe you an apology.”
“If you’re really sorry, you can make it up to me.”
Hearing “make it up to me“, Lillian froze for a second.
Compensation?
“What did you have in mind?”
Finn let a beat pass. “Haven’t decided yet. I’ll let you know wh
en I do.”
Something fluttered strangely in Lillian’s chest–a flicker of warmth, quickly followed by fluster.
She stumbled over her words, unsure how to respond.
Finn didn’t press her. He exchanged a few more brief remarks before hanging up.
The moment the call ended, Eleanor rang. “Get down to the precinct and post his bail.”

Her voice was thick with sleep, brimming with irritation and a demanding edge.

Lillian gave a low, humorless laugh. “Eleanor, let me remind you–if word gets out Julian’s in lockup, it’s going to shake investor confidence. The pack’s stock won’t survive the headlines, don’t you think?”
“You-!” Eleanor’s breath hitched on the other end.
Lillian didn’t let up. “Sounds like I woke you. Still trying to order me around?”
It was true–Eleanor had been deep asleep. The last few days had drained her.
First, dealing with Iris‘ delivery and running around making arrangements.
Then Lillian stirring up one thing after another, leaving Eleanor sleepless night after night.
She’d finally managed to fall into a heavy sleep tonight… only to be woken by a call from the police.
Snapped fully awake by Lillian’s tone, Eleanor growled through gritted teeth, “Forget it. I don’t need you to go.”
She hung up abruptly, shoved off the covers, and rushed to get ready.
Right then, fury burned through her. She had no idea how Julian had ended up in a situation like this–and now she had to go bail him out.
But whatever the reason, in her mind, Lillian was definitely behind it.
The thought of Lillian made her anger spike. “That damn curse of a woman,” she muttered under her breath.
She was so furious she could scream.
When would this chaos finally end? It was driving her out of her mind.
At the precinct, Eleanor posted bail and repeatedly asked Julian what had happened.
But once they were in the car, Julian just stared blankly ahead, refusing to answer.
That only frustrated Eleanor more.
“Couldn’t Thomas have handled this? He could’ve sent a lawyer or someone from the pack.”
Why drag her out in the middle of the night?
Unless it was something serious… but what?
She studied Julian’s profile, but he was just gazing out the window, lost in thought.
He didn’t respond to any of Eleanor’s questions.
He had Thomas drop Eleanor off at Graves Estate, then turned the car right back toward Laurel Manor
Eleanor called after him, “The situation with the pup can’t turn into another media circus like last time.”

The last media scandal had been a disaster. If the pup received that kind of exposure… would it even make it back alive?
When Julian stayed silent, Eleanor added tightly, “Sometimes, you can’t indulge a woman too much.”
In her view, Lillian acted so recklessly because Julian had spoiled her rotten before.
