Chapter 176 Dead Pup

ThirdPerson POV:

Lillian’s voice was steady, but her eyes held a hollow pain. “So, I was pregnant. And I lost the pup. That’s the truth, isn’t it?”

Julian remained silent.

Her words pierced through him like a sharp blade, a raw ache spreading in his chest.

A pup… pregnancy, miscarriage–things he had refused to face since yesterday.

Now, with Lillian pressing for an answer, he shut his eyes briefly, as if to block out the reality.

When Julian still wouldn’t speak, Lillian let out a bitter, quiet laugh..

So he knew. He knew she’d been pregnant, and he knew she’d lost the pup. But he still refused to believe any of it had to do with Iris.

Lillian pushed on, her voice thinning. “Then how did I lose the pup? Was it because my body was too weak again?”

Julian’s jaw tightened. “However it happened, you stay away from Ethan’s pup.”

Ethan’s pup… He hadn’t said Iris‘ name.

But to Lillian, it made no difference. He was telling her, in no uncertain terms, not to lay a finger on anything that belonged to Iris.

Back at the hospital, Edith quietly relayed the latest update to Iris, whose face went pale instantly.

“What did you say? The pup… She’s already… gone?”

She couldn’t finish, her voice breaking into a choked whisper.

Seeing Iris on the verge of breaking down, Edith quickly raised a finger to her own lips, signaling her to stay quiet.

Iris‘ breathing grew ragged. “No… how could she…?”

Her words were hushed, but tears already welled in her eyes.

Edith sighed softly “There was nothing the doctors could do. They couldn’t save her.”

At that, silent tears began to roll down Ins‘ cheeks.

Even though she’d known from the moment they set their plan in motion that the pup wouldn’t make it, hearing the news now still carved a hollow pain into her chest.

After all, the pup had been her own flesh and blood.

Edith leaned closer, her voice low and deliberate. “Now that she’s gone, all you need to do is hold firm. Lillian killed her.”

The ache in Iris‘ chest sharpened.

Their original plan had been simpler–use the pup’s disappearance to frame Lillian, to make Julian cut her off for good.

But now… now they wanted more. They wanted Lillian behind bars because of this pup, with Julian being the one to put her there.

Now the pup was dead…

Dead at a time when Julian was already convinced Lillian had taken her.

Reminded by Edith’s words, Iris wiped her tears away roughly. “Get word to Julian.”

“I will.”

“Make sure it’s clean. Better if his own people find the pup.”

“Understood.” Edith nodded.

If they wanted Julian to send Lillian to prison over this, even the smallest trace back to them could ruin everything.
