Chapter 189 A Blue Diamond Auction
Third–Person POV:
Lillian glanced at the photo.

It showed a man about to step into a Maserati parked in front of an upscale villa, his face partly hidden behind a black mask.
But Lillian recognized those eyes immediately.
“Is that him?”
George nodded. “I did some digging. This man was at the hospital at the same times Iris went in for her prenatal appointments.”
“During her scheduled visits?” Lillian handed the phone back.
“Exactly.”
Lillian fell silent.
The man in the picture was Felix Harper. He’d arrived in Gilneas City three years ago–rumored to have held considerable influence back in Silvermoon City before some misstep landed him here.
Since his arrival, he and Ethan had never seen eye to eye. So what was his business with Iris?
Now he was on bad terms with Julian, too–calling them sworn enemies wouldn’t be an exaggeration.
“That villa… was where the pup was staying before?” Lillian asked.
George gave a confirming nod.
Lillian didn’t reply.
This was getting strange.
Someone who was practically an enemy of the Graves Pack getting that close to Iris?
She took a slow breath. “Keep him under surveillance.”
She needed to understand what was really going on between Iris and Felix.
“We already have people watching him,” George assured her.
Lillian nodded quietly.
Her gaze lowered, thoughts unreadable, but a faint, knowing smile began to touch her lips.
Felix and Iris–two people who should have had nothing to do with each other. Yet now, their connection seemed… complicated
Then Edmund called.
Lillian answered softly, “Edmund.”

“You sound like you’re in a decent mood.”
“I am,” she admitted.
And why wouldn’t she be? Things between her and Julian were completely shattered now.
And this situation with Iris was becoming more intriguing by the day.

Edmund got straight to the point. “The largest blue diamond on the market is going up for auction in Gilneas City. I want you to bid on it for me.”
“Since when do you collect jewelry?” Lillian asked, slightly surprised.
A blue diamond–even a small one could go for hundreds of millions. She’d never had much interest in extravagant gems.
“Trying to impress your future sister–in–law,” Edmund replied casually.
Lillian almost chuckled.
She’d heard Edmund had been pursuing someone recently. As the Alpha heir of the Langley Pack, dropping a few hundred million to win over a woman was hardly out of character.
“When is it?”
“Three days from now. Take Finn with you.”
“I can handle it myself,” Lillian said, a hint of irritation in her voice.
Over the years with Julian, she’d attended plenty of high–stakes auctions alone. Why did she need an escort now?
“I’ve already arranged it with him. This is too valuable to take chances,” Edmund insisted.
Too valuable? Did he think she’d get robbed?
Before she could object, Edmund had already hung up.
Lillian stared at her phone. Seriously? Was he actually worried about her safety?
Chloe heard Lillian was back at Starfall Mountain and came straight over after work, still in her office suit.
“Have you eaten?” Lillian asked as soon as she saw her.
“Just grabbed something quick on the way. Can you have someone make me some pasta? I’m starving,” Chloe said, dropping her bag by the door.
She’d been in back–to–back meetings all day and felt completely drained.
Lillian quickly asked the kitchen to prepare a plate of pasta for her.
Chloe freshened up and changed into the pajamas Lillian had laid out–over the years in Gilneas City, they’d often shared clothes and living space.
Whenever Lillian and Julian had fought before, she’d crash at Chloe’s place without packing, just borrowing whatever was handy.

Soon the pasta was ready.
Chloe took a generous bite, washed it down with juice, and looked at Lillian. “You heard about Iris‘ pup, right?”
Lillian raised a brow. “You’re not suspecting me again, are you?”

She remembered how, just the day before when the pup was taken, Chloe had called to ask if she’d been involved. Chloe had only been worried–she didn’t want Lillian doing anything drastic just to break the mate bond with Julian.
“I’m not blind. I’m just asking if you know,” Chloe clarified between bites. She trusted Lillian completely.
Chloe was clearly famished–she’d nearly finished half the plate in a few mouthfuls.
“You haven’t eaten all day, have you?” Lillian observed.
“Skipped lunch. Work’s been insane.”
Lillian sighed softly. She’d been busy too in the past, but she always made time to eat.
“So, do you know or not?” Chloe pressed.
“How could I not know? Whenever something goes wrong in the Graves Pack, I’m the first one they blame.”
Chloe nodded in agreement. “True.”
Over the past couple of years, every bit of bad news in the Graves Pack seemed to lead back to Lillian.
Especially with everything involving Iris these last six months. Even when Iris had a depressive episode, they’d questioned whether Lillian had triggered it.
So now, with a pup’s death–something this serious–they were probably pointing fingers directly at her again.
“So the Graves Pack is saying you killed the pup?” Chloe asked, her tone a mix of frustration and disbelief.
Lillian’s expression was calm. “What else? How do you think I ended up back at Starfall Mountain so quickly?” Chloe paused, looking surprised. “Julian let you leave?”
