And one thing was certain–she’d make sure Lillian never saw the outside of a prison cell for the rest of her life.

Half the assets. The nerve of that woman, honestly.

Back on the phone, Lillian set her cell down and glanced at Chloe. “It’s done.”

“Julian agreed to dissolve the mating bond? Wait–wasn’t that Eleanor on the line just now?”

The voice earlier had clearly been Eleanor’s.

“It was,” Lillian replied. “She told me to come to the hospital tomorrow to pick up the termination papers.”

If Eleanor said that, it meant the matter was settled.

Chloe frowned. “So Julian agreed too?”

“It’s not about him agreeing,” Lillian said quietly. “Iris lost her pup.”

And everyone was blaming her for it.

Wasn’t Julian the same?

If he still tried to hold onto her after something like this, that would be seriously twisted.

“Good.” Chloe nodded firmly. “Once the bond is broken, you need to get back to the Western Continent as soon as possible.”

Lillian let out a soft, humorless laugh. “Even if they want to play dirty, they’d actually have get me in there first, right?”

“Yeah,” Chloe admitted reluctantly. “I guess that’s true.”

They’d learned that much from last time.

The most pressing issue was Lillian.

The moment the reception room door opened, Hilda stepped forward. “Mom, what happened?”

Julian had looked furious earlier, so she hadn’t dared to ask then.

Eleanor had walked into the reception room and shut the door firmly, followed by the sound of raised voices.

She hadn’t dared to interrupt that, either.

Eleanor shot Hilda a brief glance but didn’t answer. “Is Julian still here?”

That woman on the phone had infuriated her–she’d been simmering for a solid hour.

She still hadn’t cooled down. The anger sat heavy in her chest.

That Lillian was truly, unbelievably insufferable.

But it didn’t matter. The thought that Lillian wouldn’t get to spend a single dime once she was in prison made Eleanor feel considerably better.

Hilda nodded. “He hasn’t come out.”

“I’ll go speak to him,” Eleanor said flatly.

With that, she headed straight for Julian’s office.
