Someone who was headed for prison didn’t have the luxury of stirring up trouble like before.

Hearing Eleanor’s words, Hilda felt a little relieved. “How much longer is this investigation going to take? Why haven’t they arrested her yet?”

Shouldn’t it work like this–once you file a report, the police come and take the person away?

So why was nothing happening?

Was Finn still covering for her? This wasn’t like the past.

If Lillian really did it, even Finn wouldn’t be able to shield her, right?

The thought of Finn constantly protecting Lillian left a bitter taste in Hilda’s mouth.

Eleanor replied, “Don’t rush it. She killed that pup. If she doesn’t end up behind bars, who will? It’s only a matter of time.”

She wasn’t worried about that.

In her mind, the pup’s death was linked to Lillian, and Lillian’s imprisonment was inevitable.

Besides, with the pup just gone, evidence wouldn’t be easy to wipe out completely.

So there was no chance Lillian could actually drag them to court.

Thinking it over–whether it was the five billion or the fixed assets, Eleanor had no intention of handing any of it over anymore.

“Alright, let’s go check on Iris.”

Just mentioning Iris‘ name made Eleanor’s tone grow impatient. Between Lillian’s chaos and Iris‘ constant demands, it had been exhausting.

She could only hope Margaret pulled through this crisis over in the Western Continent. Otherwise…

If Margaret really went down this time, then the Graves Pack was truly cursed–stuck with two such difficult daughters–in–law.

Over in her room, Iris was on the phone. With guards posted outside, she kept her voice low.

“Get rid of all the evidence. Whatever you do, don’t let the cops trace it back to you.”

She spoke while glancing repeatedly toward the door.

Clearly, being walked in on twice by Julian had left her on edge.

Felix said, “Relax. I wiped the security footage and everything. But you-”

He paused, then let out a cold laugh. “You’re not actually developing real feelings for Julian, are you?”

“What are you talking about? Even if others don’t get it, you should know exactly why I’m doing all this.”

Iris‘ voice tightened with anger.

Felix replied, “Just making sure you’re not getting too into the role. Half the city thinks you’re obsessed with him.”

Obsessed?

Wasn’t she, though?

Hearing the sarcasm in Felix’s tone, Iris gritted her teeth. “Enough. Lay low for now. If the Graves Pack finds out I’ve been in touch with you, we’re both finished.”

Her words were sharp, final.

Felix said, “I know.”

“And don’t forget how Ethan really died. You don’t need to remind me.”

Iris‘ jaw clenched.

Felix shot back, “I don’t need reminding. You’re the one who shouldn’t forget.”

“I haven’t forgotten.”

The memory of Ethan’s true death sent Iris‘ heart pounding. “Don’t contact me for a while. And leave Lillian alone for now.”

Eleanor and Hilda were standing in the doorway. She had no idea how long they’d been there.
