She was losing it.

Everything was falling apart. Everything. But the one thing that absolutely had to work, the one disaster that could not happen, was Lillian failing to sever the mate bond with Julian.
She should have been exiled from the Graves Pack territory a long time ago.
Lillian’s voice came through the line, cool and detached. “The dissolution papers will be delivered to Graves Estate within the hour.”
Eleanor snapped, “Lillian, you—”
She wanted to rip into her, but Lillian had already ended the call.
Right now, her only priority was getting that bond annulled. Until the official certificate was in her hand, she refused to waste another second on anyone from the Graves Pack.
Back at the private medical center, Eleanor stared at the dead screen on her phone, trembling with rage. For a second, she almost hurled the device against the wall.
Hilda, having overheard the entire conversation, wasted no time fanning the flames. “An unexpected issue with the paperwork? What kind of issue could there possibly be? I’m telling you, she’s dragging her feet because she doesn’t actually want to break the bond with Julian!”
Eleanor was already seething.
Hearing Hilda say that made the blood pound in her ears.
That damn Lillian. She’d better not be playing games. She’d better sever that mate bond completely before the handcuffs went on.
A daughter–in–law like Lillian was a liability the Graves Pack simply couldn’t afford.

That afternoon, Julian spent hours holed up in back–to–back briefings at the center. Their projects had taken a critical hit from Langley Group.
There was no recovering them now.

Julian had already authorized his team to open a direct channel with Langley Group. It looked like he was going to have to fly to the Western Continent himself to smooth things over.
He had just stepped out of the conference room when Eleanor intercepted him, clutching a sheaf of papers. This wasn’t the draft Lillian had messengered over to Graves Estate.
The version delivered to Graves Estate had clearly stipulated she wanted five billion from their collective assets–a far cry from the fifty–fifty split they had originally discussed.
Naturally, Eleanor wasn’t about to let that slide. She had taken matters into her own hands and drafted a new agreement–one that left Lillian with absolutely nothing—and brought it for Julian to sign.
When Lillian had called earlier about some snag in the filing process, Eleanor’s immediate reaction was that she was stalling, trying to wriggle out of dissolving the bond.
But then she reconsidered. Every scheme Lillian had pulled recently… hadn’t the end goal always been freedom?
Her actions made it clear she was hell–bent on ending things.
So why should the Graves Pack entertain her demands?
Eleanor intended to force this “she gets nothing” agreement in front of her. Sign it or don’t. Eleanor was confident Lillian would cave eventually.
Unless she actually wanted to keep enduring Eleanor’s abuse.
But even if she did, her time had run out. Arrest was imminent.
She had to pay for the death of her beloved granddaughter!
When Eleanor cornered him at the office again, Julian’s expression was glacial.
To make matters worse, the overseas situation was a total train wreck. Every sector was crumbling.
He was exhausted. He didn’t want to see a single person associated with the pack.
Eleanor followed him into his office and slammed the dissolution agreement onto his desk.
“Sign it.”
Julian pulled a cigarette from his case, his eyes flicking down to the document she’d shoved
toward him.

When he saw the header Mate Bond Dissolution Agreement, his brow furrowed. “What is this?”
“Lillian said there was a complication with the filing,” Eleanor snapped. “She needs you to sign a new agreement.”
Julian paused.
So that meant… he and Lillian were still bonded?
The iron grip that had been squeezing his chest all morning loosened fractionally at the realization.
Eleanor pressed him, her voice shrill. “Just sign it already. An Omega like her remaining tied to the Graves Pack is nothing but a headache.”
She wouldn’t rest easy until she saw with her own eyes that Julian and Lillian were completely severed.
She didn’t know why, but when Lillian had called around noon, something about her tone had felt… off.
Even without her physical presence, Eleanor could feel Lillian’s gaze piercing through the phone line–cold and predatory.
It felt like at any second, those invisible hands would reach out and throttle her.
That sense of looming danger… It was palpable, even from a distance.
“Sign it. Hurry up!”
The memory of that subtle threat sent a fresh wave of panic through Eleanor, making her voice even sharper.
Julian glanced over at her. “What kind of issue?”
“What?”
“You said there was a complication. What kind of issue came up when she went to file the papers?”
Eleanor huffed impatiently. “How should I know? God, Julian, just don’t worry about the details. Sign it!”
She was practically vibrating with impatience.
