Julian ignored her, taking another slow drag of his cigarette and turning his gaze toward the window. He said nothing more.

And it was that heavy, suffocating silence that finally drove Eleanor storming out of the office in a fury.

George had already ordered the staff to monitor her closely. Sensing that her state of mind was dangerously unstable, George had instructed his team to dig into exactly what had transpired between her and the old woman earlier that day.

The report came back not long after: the old woman had passed away almost immediately after Lillian had walked away from her bedside.

Just then, the phone rang.
