Chapter 230 Takeout Intercepted

Eleanor’s patience had worn thin. “Just order delivery for now,” she snapped. “If Julian can’t make her leave, then Iris will have to stay at one of the other properties.”
The Graves Pack owned extensive territory, with plenty of houses and apartments to choose from. Right now, keeping Iris out of Lillian’s line of sight was the priority.
But when Eleanor said it, Hilda glanced over at Iris. The younger woman’s expression tightened at the mention of “delivery.” She clearly wasn’t happy about the idea, though she knew better than to pick a fight with Lillian directly.
However, the suggestion of moving somewhere else didn’t sit well with Iris either. “No,” she said firmly. “I don’t want to go to another house. I’m settled here.”
She intended to stay put. Now that Lillian had boldly moved back in, Julian would likely start coming home every night. And if that happened… Iris didn’t finish the thought, but her mind was set. She wasn’t leaving.
Eleanor only grew more frustrated hearing her refusal. “You won’t go, and she won’t go. So what’s your solution? She’s clearly aiming at all of us.” Her voice was sharp, edged with irritation.
Iris‘ face darkened further.

Lillian had finished her meal and set down her bowl. She spoke quietly to George, who stood nearby, “Send people to burn down every property the Graves Pack owns.”
George lifted a brow. “Every single one?”
“Yes. Except for Agnes‘ apartment.”
Agnes was Eleanor’s daughter, but Lillian knew how twisted loyalties could be within a pack. Agnes had been given little, while Hilda held deed to countless estates. That one apartment had originally been a gift from Julian to Lillian, before Eleanor had seized it and transferred the title to Agnes.
George nodded once. “Understood.”
A short while later, the delivery arrived.

Upstairs, Eleanor had ordered takeout for Iris. Watching from the dining room, Lillian caught George’s eye and gave a slight nod.
George signaled to one of the nearby staff–a woman who had served the Graves family for years, named Hannah.
As Hannah brought the delivery bags toward the stairs, the servant stepped forward and smoothly took them from her hands.
Hannah stiffened. “What do you think you’re doing?”
She tried to grab the bags back, but the servant turned and carried them into the kitchen without a word. Hannah moved to follow, but two of Lillian’s people stepped in her path, blocking her way.
She looked toward Lillian. “Luna Lillian, what is the meaning of this?”
Lillian didn’t bother to respond. She didn’t answer to servants.
A few minutes later, the servant returned with the bags, which appeared untouched from the outside. She thrust them back into Hannah’s arms.
Hannah inspected the containers, then glared at the woman. “What did you do to the food?”
The servant simply resumed her place behind George, offering no explanation.
Now that the food had passed through Lillian’s people, there was no telling what might have been done to it–or if it was safe to eat at all.
Hannah didn’t press further. She was just staff, after all. Clutching the bags, she turned and headed back upstairs, seething.

Hannah knocked on Iris‘ door, takeout in hand. Eleanor took the bags from her, relieved. She was starving.
Between placing the order and the delivery driver navigating the pack’s tight security, it had taken much longer than expected.
Just as Eleanor started to open one of the containers, Hannah spoke up, her voice uneasy. “Luna Eleanor.”
Eleanor paused. “What is it?”

Hannah’s hesitant tone sent a chill through her. A bad feeling began to settle in.
“Luna Lillian’s people… they handled the food,” Hannah said quietly.
“What?” Eleanor stared at her, stunned.
Both Iris and Hilda turned toward Hannah, their expressions hardening.
Eleanor’s temper flared. “How could you let them touch it? What’s wrong with you?”

That damned Lillian. Downstairs, she’d acted paranoid about being poisoned by Graves Pack members–as if they were the ones who needed to worry about poison. She’d taken over the kitchen, and now she’d intercepted their only meal. What was she trying to pull?
Hannah shifted uncomfortably. “Luna Lillian brought a whole group with her. I didn’t hand it over–they took it from me.”
When Eleanor heard it had been taken by force, she felt a wave of dizziness rush over her. Iris and Hilda looked equally on edge.
“What did she put in it?” Eleanor demanded.
“I don’t know. The servant took it into the kitchen. I have no idea what she might have done.”
