The moment Eleanor heard, she completely snapped. “Her staff has been occupying the kitchen for over an hour. Why is it still not available?”
The head housekeeper looked utterly helpless, at a loss for words.
“And another thing,” Eleanor pressed, her tone sharp. “Is our kitchen suddenly too small? Or are they deliberately keeping our people out?”
It was infuriating.
It was nearly noon, and the specially prepared nursing meals for Iris still weren’t ready.
That wretched Lillian. Did she really think she was the lady of Graves Estate now?
The housekeeper shifted uncomfortably. “Her attendants are blocking the entrance. They won’t allow any of our staff within ten feet.”
Already seething, Eleanor stormed downstairs to confront Lillian directly.
In the dining room, Lillian was seated calmly at the table, which was laden with dishes.
“Lillian!” Eleanor’s voice cut through the quiet. “What is your problem? Why are you blocking the Graves Pack staff from using the kitchen?”
Fine–bring her own nutritionist. The pack wasn’t keen on handling her meals anyway.
But denying the pack’s own people access to their kitchen? That was going too far.
Lillian continued eating slowly, deliberately, as if she had all the time in the world.
Eleanor moved forward, ready to start a scene.
But just as she approached the table, two attendants stepped smoothly into her path.
They appeared slender, but their presence was solid, immovable.
Even with just the two of them blocking her, Eleanor felt the same dense, suppressing aura she had experienced during the confrontation two hours earlier.
Especially when her eyes met theirs.

One cold glance was all it took for Eleanor’s courage to falter.

These were no ordinary attendants. With those distinct, otherworldly features–marked by the faint silver hue of the Draenei lineage–they carried themselves more like seasoned
operatives, perhaps even international–level enforcers.
The fiery anger that had propelled Eleanor downstairs cooled considerably under their watchful gazes.
Still, her eyes remained fixed on Lillian with undisguised loathing. “Just what are you trying to pull?”
“Luna Eleanor,” Lillian replied, setting down her spoon. “You haven’t forgotten why Julian ended up in the hospital last time, have you?”
Eleanor’s breath caught.
The last time Julian was rushed to the emergency room, it was because Catherine had poisoned him.
“How was I to know,” Lillian continued evenly, “whether your people were entering to cook… or to poison me?”
“Fine,” Eleanor spat through gritted teeth. “Now that you’re done, will you clear out?”
Accusing the pack of poisoning–it was outrageous. Yet at this moment, there was little she could actually do to challenge Lillian.
Especially now that Lillian was no longer allowing herself to be pushed around.
“Not just yet.”
“Why not?”
Eleanor’s temper flared again at the refusal.
“My people are preparing my afternoon tea,” Lillian said mildly. “You’ll have to wait.”
“Afternoon tea? You’re still eating lunch!”
She hadn’t even finished her meal, and already she was talking about coffee time.
She was deliberately monopolizing the kitchen–it was obvious.
Lillian lifted her bowl and took a slow sip of broth. “What can I say? My dietary needs are

rather particular. Preparations must begin early.”
“How long will that take?”
“I couldn’t say.”
Eleanor stared, speechless.
She was furious–absolutely livid.
Lillian was doing this on purpose.

She had returned to Graves Estate for one reason only: to make their lives miserable in every way possible.
Ignoring Eleanor, Lillian continued eating at her own leisurely pace.
The pack usually lunched at 11:30.
It was now past noon. The aroma of food in the air only made Eleanor’s hunger more acute.
That damn Lillian.
She moves back into pack territory and has her private staff cook only for herself.
If she was so paranoid about being poisoned, why not have them prepare enough for everyone?
Too agitated to stand it, Eleanor turned and stalked back upstairs.
Back in the room, Iris was growing restless with hunger.
As a nursing mother, her metabolism differed from other new mothers–she needed to eat frequently.
Three main meals a day, plus two additional nursing snacks.
She’d already missed her morning snack because of Lillian’s sudden arrival, and now lunch. was being delayed as well.
Eleanor entered the room muttering curses under her breath. “That wretched woman. She’s hogging the kitchen on purpose. She’s determined to make us suffer. I’m losing my mind over this. If Julian doesn’t get her out of here soon, I swear I’ll snap.”
