“Absolutely.” George nodded. He signaled to two attendants, who immediately stepped forward.
They gathered the remaining items from the morning that hadn’t yet been cleared, carried everything straight to the entrance, and walked out.
Shortly after, the sound of objects shattering echoed from outside–everything had been dumped directly onto the ground.
“You… you vicious Omega. Nothing but a vicious Omega…”
What was she playing at?
Had she really returned to reclaim her place, and now she intended to throw all of them out as well?
Hilda and Eleanor felt utterly crushed by Lillian
Iris had wanted to stay out of it, but she hadn’t eaten a thing all day–not even a sip of water.
Now Lillian had moved back in…
And especially after what she’d done to their takeout earlier, who knew if she had tampered with the water supply too?
Iris finally sent someone to summon Lillian to her room.
Lillian didn’t even bother responding.
Left with no choice, Iris went downstairs herself to confront her.
She took a seat on the couch across from Lillian, watching as the Omega casually ate from a bowl of fruit.
That hollow, hungry sensation only deepened Iris‘ inner torment.
“What exactly are you trying to pull?” Iris asked, her voice icy.
“What have I done?”
Lillian popped a grape into her mouth and glanced at Iris with an air of indifference.

Iris‘ heart sank immediately.
As if she’d done nothing since returning earlier that day.

Iris lifted her gaze slightly. “You really shouldn’t burn all your bridges. Finn won’t be able to shield you forever.”
Lillian almost laughed.
See? This was exactly it. A mother–in–law and her favored daughter–in–law really were cut from the same cloth.
What Iris said was practically word for word what Eleanor had thrown at her earlier.
A mocking smile touched Lillian’s lips. She set the fruit bowl down and gave Iris a sidelong look. “Did you leave any room for me?”
“My mother’s issues in the Western Continent should be resolved within the next couple of days.”
Iris didn’t answer directly. But by mentioning that Margaret’s troubles were nearly over, her implication was clear.
She was reminding Lillian that she, Iris, still held status Lillian couldn’t match.
And she was warning her–once Margaret returned from the Western Continent, Lillian would be finished.
Lillian raised a brow. “Is that so?”
“Of course,” Iris replied coolly. “Have you figured out how you’ll be rolling yourself out of here by then?”
She emphasized the words rolling yourself out.
Clearly, after all these hours, her patience with Lillian had worn thin as well.
Even though Lillian hadn’t directly confronted her in her room, cutting off the entire pack’s access to the kitchen was its own form of subtle torture.
Iris was still recovering from whelping. Depriving her of meals was deliberate cruelty–there was no other word for it.
Lillian let out a soft, humorless laugh. “How amusing. I am part of the Graves Pack. What right does an outsider like Margaret have to order me out?”
Words like part of the Graves Pack and outsider coming from Lillian’s mouth couldn’t have

been more pointed.
Her tone was sharp as a blade now.
No matter who came at her, she struck back without hesitation.
Iris‘ face paled visibly.
“Your mother truly oversteps her place, doesn’t she?” Lillian added lightly.

“If she hears about what happened today, she won’t let this slide,” Iris said through gritted teeth.
Then, with a hint of pride, she continued, “You know how it is. All these years, my mother has always had my back.”
It was true. Margaret had always looked out for her.
Even with her volatile temper, Margaret had never held back when it came to providing for Iris.
And she never failed to take her side.
Whenever Iris clashed with anyone outside, regardless of who was at fault, Margaret would go straight for the other party.
Even over the past six months, since Julian had begun openly protecting Iris, Margaret had still stirred up plenty of trouble behind the scenes.
Lillian’s expression remained unmoved. “That’s assuming she’ll have the strength or the means to come after me.”
Didn’t Iris understand how things stood?
Given the kind of person Margaret was–had she ever let anyone who crossed her off the hook? Of course not.
But that was before. Back when she had the energy and resources to pursue grudges. Now? Did she still?
“You” Iris began, but Lillian cut her off with a cold, knowing laugh.
Hearing that shift in tone, Iris‘ heart skipped. “But what?”
“But,” Lillian said, her voice dropping slightly, “your mother seems unusually invested in Simon, doesn’t she? What exactly is their connection?”

Iris stared blankly.
Simon? What did he have to do with her mother
What kind of question was that?
“What are you implying?” Iris demanded, her voice tight.

“I’m not implying anything. But I suspect that when she returns and finds out you still haven’t secured Simon’s release… she’s likely to come for you first. To settle the score.”
The phrase settle the score drifted from Lillian’s lips, casual yet weighted.
In that moment, Iris felt her entire body tremble.
Simon.
Before leaving for the Western Continent, her mother had stressed–repeatedly–the importance of dealing with Simon.
She’d even called a few days ago to ask about him.
But Simon was still in Julian’s custody, and Iris could hardly get an audience with Julian, much less bring up Simon’s situation.
Now that Lillian mentioned his name, though, Iris knew it wasn’t just casual talk. There was more to it–something layered, maybe pack–related, and the way Lillian brought it up felt intentional, loaded.
