Chapter 28 Confrontation
Victor’s POV:

I was genuinely confused. Julian wanted to find Finn–why was he asking me to relay that to Lillian? What was the strategy there?
“Hold on… Julian, what does Finn have to do with this now? Did Iris tell you something?” My immediate assumption was that Iris had been whispering more poison in his ear.
My tone turned sharp. “Let’s be clear–you still haven’t properly explained whatever is going on with you and Iris, so don’t you dare start pointing fingers at Lillian, accusing her of getting close to another Alpha! Once a woman’s heart is truly shattered and her mind is made up, you’ll spend a lifetime trying to piece it back together.”
In my view, if Julian couldn’t even sort out his own tangled mess with Iris, he had no right to cast suspicion on Lillian regarding Finn. And if Julian was suspicious, Iris had undoubtedly planted the seed. He was completely losing his grip.
I was utterly fed up with how Julian had handled everything concerning Lillian.
“You’re decisive in business and with the pack, so why are you so easily manipulated when it comes to Lillian? Whatever Iris says, you just swallow it whole?” My frustration boiled over.
Speaking of Iris, my voice dripped with disdain. “As far as I’m concerned, that female has zero sense of boundaries! Her mate dies, and she thinks she can just lay claim to her brother–in–law–who is already bonded–making life impossible for another Alpha’s rightful mate. It’s repulsive.”
“Enough!” Julian snapped, his voice a low, furious growl. “Are you going to tell her or not?”
“Seriously, you…” I tried to continue.
“Thomas discovered that a Draenei escorted her from the hospital this morning,” he cut me off abruptly. “A Draenei! Who else would she know–who has both the resources and a motive to intervene–besides someone connected to Finn?”
I fell silent.
Thomas had uncovered that. That made the information highly credible–everyone knew Thomas‘ loyalty to Julian was absolute.
“Fine,” I finally conceded. “I’ll call her and pass the message. But I can’t promise she’ll even answer.”
Julian’s POV:
After ending the call with Victor, my expression was stormy.
A Draenei, Finn… If a non–werewolf was appearing in her orbit, the connection to Finn was almost undeniable.
I arrived at Livingston Pack Corporate Tower.
Upon entering, I noticed a significant number of non–werewolf personnel at work. I could also sense that some employees carried an aura distinct from that of wolves.
When I reached Finn’s office, I saw him signing a document and handing it to his assistant. “Scan and forward thus to the Langley Group immediately. Inform them we accept their terms.”
His assistant, Paul, nodded. “Yes, Alpha.” He turned, offered me a polite nod, and hurried off with the file.

I strode into the office and asked, my tone deceptively casual, “Another major overseas deal secured?” I had to acknowledge that over the years, Finn hadn’t just consolidated his power locally; his overseas operations were formidable. The Graves Pack might be the most prominent in Gilneas on the surface, but in terms of overall strength and hidden international networks, the Livingston pack was at least an equal, if not superior.
Finn didn’t answer my question. He simply closed the folder in his hands with a definitive snap. He stood and took a seat on the sofa opposite me.
We were both in dress shirts, one dark, one light. I wore a deep blue that should have conveyed steadiness, but my agitated energy made it seem restless and hostile. Finn’s was a light gray that, in its understated elegance, radiated a restrained yet formidable
power.
Paul had an attendant bring in two cups of black coffee.
Finn picked up his cup, took a measured sip, and leveled his gaze at me. “I didn’t expect you to actually have the time to spare.”
His deep voice held no obvious sarcasm, but to my already frayed nerves, it felt like a razor’s edge.
For the past six months, several people close to me had advised against overextending myself with Iris. Finn had never once commented.
But ever since Lillian began her counterattack, Finn’s attitude had shifted palpably. Especially after his declaration last night supporting the bond’s dissolution.
I took another steadying breath, picked up the coffee, and drank, trying to douse the anger simmering within. I stared at Finn, his features sharp and impassive. He was a few years my senior but maintained his physique and presence impeccably. Over the years, countless females had shown interest, but his standards were notoriously high. I’d never seen him pay particular attention to anyone, let alone publicly take a stand for a specific female.
