Chapter 70 A Deadly Threat
Third–Person POV:
Iris stared at Eleanor, choking on her breath, before reality crashed back in.
Panic colored her voice. “Eleanor, is Julian going to find my mom? What does he want with her, looking like that?”
Eleanor floundered. “Ah? Well…”

“Has Lillian said something to him again? You have to go check. My mom can’t even move in that bed; he can’t go after her.”
Just remembering the look Julian had given her before he left made Iris‘ heart race.
What was that about? After everything she’d just said… why would he look at her like that?
What had Lillian told him?
Today had been the deepest humiliation of her life. Even the slightest movement sent pain screaming through her entire body.
She couldn’t even get up to use the bathroom.
“Damn that Lillian…” she hissed through gritted teeth.
Every bone felt shattered, leaving her utterly helpless.
Right now, Margaret’s mind was filled with nothing but images of tearing Lillian apart.
But why had Finn helped Lillian against her like that? Did he… know?
The thought made Margaret’s battered face freeze.
Then she reconsidered. No, impossible.
He hadn’t figured it out in all these years. Why would he discover it now?
Margaret couldn’t wrap her head around why Finn had gone to such lengths to save Lillian today.
Her thoughts were cut short as Julian walked in.
A wave of cold, sharp intensity rolled off him the moment he entered, sucking all warmth from the room.
“Julian? What are you doing here?”
Margaret was surprised to see him.
Julian was nothing like Ethan. They were twins, but Ethan had a gentle, polished demeanor. He was polite.
At least, that was the face Ethan showed the world.
What Ethan was really like underneath… that was anyone’s guess.

But Julian? Julian was terrifyingly dangerous, both in the open and in the shadows.
Now, meeting the ice in Julian’s eyes, Margaret’s chest instinctively tightened.
Julian pulled a chair next to the bed and sat down.
He took out a cigarette and lit it…
Smoke instantly filled the room. Margaret felt a spike of irritation.
Smoking in an elder’s hospital room? What kind of behavior was that?
But she didn’t dare say a word.

Her expression turned stern. “Did you need something?” she asked, her tone deliberately sharp, a reminder that she was, after all, his elder.
Julian took another drag. As he exhaled the smoke, Margaret choked, coughing violently. “Cough, cough-!”
Julian spoke, his voice flat, “Simon. You know him well, I assume?”
Margaret’s breath hitched in her throat.
Her previously stern gaze instantly flickered with tension. “What… What do you mean?”
Julian took another slow pull from his cigarette.
With the smoke curling around his fingers, he seemed even colder, more forbidding.
His eyes, half–hidden by the haze, held a pressure that was almost physical.
He let the silence stretch.
Margaret watched him, struggling to keep the panic from her eyes.
As the smoke cleared, Julian’s gaze cut to her. A faint, blood–chilling smile touched his lips.
It wasn’t the look a younger generation gave an elder.
It was the gaze of a predator toying with its prey…
Margaret’s voice was tight. “What… What about him?”
A sense of dread, heavy and suffocating, settled in her chest.
Julian’s tone was conversational. “If nothing goes wrong, he might walk out of this hospital alive. If something does go wrong
He left the sentence hanging.
Margaret’s heart, already lodged in her throat, now felt wrapped in cotton, making it hard to breathe.
“What… What are you going to do?” she forced out, voice strained with suppressed fury.
Julian casually flicked the ash from his cigarette. “What am I going to do? You should tell me what you did at Inkwood Gardens 2/3
