Julian didn’t say another word. He just ended the call.

The second he hung up, his phone rang again. It was Eleanor. “She’s really not going to let this go Eleanor’s voice crackled through the line. “Hilda and I already signed the papers. Why is she going after Iris‘ mother now?”
Apparently, Margaret had taken another hit and immediately called Eleanor to tear into her.
Eleanor was beside herself with rage.
Julian pinched the bridge of his nose, his head pounding.
“She’s really crossed the line this time,” Eleanor continued, her voice climbing higher. “She actually managed to interfere with Iris‘ mother’s business overseas! Was that you? Or was it Finn?”
She was practically screaming now.
Margaret had always been difficult, but Eleanor had spent years carefully managing their relationship.
Now Lillian had come in and destroyed all of it in just a few days. It was infuriating.
Julian hung up on her without a word.
He immediately tried calling Finn, but Finn didn’t pick up. The line disconnected automatically. He tried again. Same thing.
Julian saw red.
What the hell was going on? Why was Finn helping her like this…?
Margaret was absolutely livid.
First, she’d gotten the living daylights beaten out of her at Inkwood Gardens. Now, the overseas deal she’d practically sealed had just collapsed.
She lay in her hospital bed, practically vibrating with rage. “That Omega,” she hissed through

Marcus dialed Finn’s number. It didn’t even ring–just cut off automatically after the first tone.
“Alpha Finn isn’t picking up.”
Margaret’s jaw tightened. “Then call his assistant. What’s his name… Paul. Do it now.”
Marcus quickly dialed Paul instead.
Paul actually answered.
Marcus didn’t bother with pleasantries. “Paul, is this really appropriate? Alpha Finn helping Lillian like this?”
His voice carried the cold weight of an elder demanding respect.
Paul’s response was ice. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
Then he hung up.
Marcus stared at the phone, listening to the dial tone. He looked at Margaret.
Margaret’s expression was murderous. “He hung up?”
She was already furious, and that call ending so abruptly only poured gasoline on the fire.
Marcus nodded. “Yes. He hung up.”
Margaret felt her pulse hammer in her temples. “Finn… has he completely lost his mind? Even if Lillian broke the bond with Julian, she’s still nowhere near good enough for him, is she?
“Helping her like this… I don’t understand it. I just don’t.”
Everything Lillian had done had systematically dismantled Margaret’s pride.
“Lillian… I swear I’ll make her pay.”
Marcus kept his voice calm. “Right now, you might need to fly to the Western Continent

How am I supposed to do that? I can’t even move! Margaret’s face darkened even more.
The second she’d gotten the news, she’d considered heading to the Western Continent herself.
But there was no way. Her legs were useless, her neck was immobilized, and her arm was fractured
Before she could even process the loss of that deal, another call came through from overseas.
Marcus glanced at the screen and his expression shifted.
Margaret caught the look and frowned. “What now?”
Marcus swallowed. “It’s… the Western Continent Customs Office.”
“What do they want?”
I’m not sure. Could be an issue with our export shipments?”
The First Customs Office in the Western Continent…
That had to be about their exports.
The words “issue with our export shipments” drained the remaining color from Margaret’s face.
She’d always maintained solid connections over there. Good relationships.
A call like this, out of nowhere–what did it mean…?
A cold dread coiled in her stomach.
“Take it,” she ordered.
There was no avoiding it now.
Marcus nodded and answered the call in front of her, switching seamlessly to the official language of the Western Continent.
As the conversation went on, Marcus‘ face grew more and more serious.
Margaret watched him, her heart hammering against her ribs.
