Chapter 96 The Grenade
Chapter 96 The Grenade
Third–Person POV:
Lillian’s voice was calm, deliberate. “The doctor who handled my emergency treatment at the hospital? He’s a problem. Took money under the table and fed false information to my mate’s family.”
George waited. “You want me to-
“Sue him.”
Suc?
”
Julian wouldn’t believe the doctor had been bought off? Fine. She’d drag that doctor into court and let the truth come out.
She’d slap Julian so hard he’d feel it.
She was done holding back.
All that talk about making him regret it? That wasn’t enough anymore. What she wanted now was for him to see–really see–just how blind and stupid he’d been.
After giving George his instructions, Lillian headed upstairs.
She lay back in bed, stared at the ceiling for a moment, then picked up her phone and dialed Julian’s number.
He was still at Finn’s place.
When Julian’s phone lit up with her name, he shot Finn a look–sharp, pointed.
He answered, “Finally decided to call me?”
She’d blocked his number. Unless she reached out first, he couldn’t get through.
Lillian didn’t take the bait. “You’re still at Finn’s?”
Julian’s laugh was cold, humorless. “Word travels fast. What, worried about him?”
“Don’t make this harder for him than it needs to be. What’s between us has nothing to do with Finn.”

“Nothing to do with him?” Julian’s voice went sharp. “Lillian, do I look like an idiot to you?”
“Whether you’re an idiot or not–I can’t say. But on this subject? Your judgment’s obviously garbage.”
“Yeah? My judgment’s garbage. That’s why it took me this long to figure out what’s been going on between you and Finn.”
He was already furious.
Now her words landed exactly the wrong way–he heard them as her defending Finn.
He was the one who’d had his mate taken. He was the one who needed defending.
“Where are you? I’m coming to get you—”
Julian didn’t want to fight over the phone. He just wanted to find her.
Lillian’s voice stayed flat. “If you’re determined to believe there’s something between me and Finn, then I can’t stop you.”
“Lillian-
“Yeah. I do like him. So let’s just end this bond.”
The words landed like a grenade.
Silence.
Julian’s chest heaved. “What did you just say? You’re my Omega. My Luna. You—”
Click. Dial tone.
Julian saw red.
He called back immediately. Straight to voicemail.
He was so angry he couldn’t see straight. He threw his phone–didn’t care where it landed.
And that act–that raw, uncontrolled rage–sent the tension between him and Finn spiraling into something dangerous.
Julian planted his hands on his hips, chest still heaving, and turned on Finn. “How long?”
That was all he got out.

The two men stared each other down–wolf to wolf, Alpha to Alpha.
Finn’s voice came out low and cold. “Get out.”
Julian left. But before he did, he made sure Finn understood: whatever friendship they’d had was done. Over
And this thing with Lillian? It wasn’t over. Not by a long shot.
After Julian stormed out, Harper approached Finn carefully.
Finn took a long drag from the cigarette he’d just lit. “He’s gone?”
Harper nodded. “Alpha Julian seemed… upset. Alpha Finn, about what just happened—”
He let the sentence die. Changed direction. “Moonlake Manor sent word. They’re requesting your presence for lunch tomorrow.”
Tomorrow noon.
Finn frowned. It wasn’t a family dinner night. No holidays. Why summon him now?
Harper caught the look.
“Mrs. Blake arrived at the manor around noon today. It’s about the Graves Pack–about Hilda.”
Finn’s expression went colder. “Hilda.”
He’d known her since she was a pup. Never liked her.
Spoiled, domineering, entitled–she was the complete package. The Graves Pack had done a hell of a job raising her.
Harper confirmed with a nod.
Mrs. Blake had gone to Moonlake Manor today on Hilda’s behalf. And now the manor wanted
