call Aella and Daniel downstairs for fruit and walked right into this scene.
Clyde’s eyes went wide as saucers as he turned and yelled, “Mom, get up here!”
Clyde’s shout startled both people in the room.
Aella quickly pushed Daniel away and kicked him right off the bed.
She scrambled to the other side of the bed to fix her clothes.
Daniel crouched beside the bed, leaning on the edge to admire Aella adjusting her clothing, with no intention of getting up.
Seeing Daniel still crouched on the floor, Aella rushed over to pull him up. “Get up already!”
Before Aella finished speaking, Miriam and Warren entered the room.
Clyde pointed at Daniel accusingly. “Dad, Mom, this sleazebag was taking advantage of Aella!”
Aella let go of Daniel.
She turned her back to her parents and closed her eyes, too scared to open them.
Miriam asked her daughter, “Aella, what happened?”
Warren told Clyde to help Daniel up, but Clyde angrily refused.
Aella looked down at Daniel.
Seeing Daniel’s innocent expression, Aella lied through her teeth.
“Mom, Dad, don’t misunderstand. Daniel accidentally threw out his back and lost his balance. Clyde just got the wrong idea.”
Seeing her parents visibly relax, Aella also breathed a sigh of relief.
Warren came over proactively and helped Aella get Daniel on his feet.
Miriam said, “Quick, help him downstairs so Aella can check how serious the injury is.”

Clyde reached out and poked Daniel’s back. Daniel immediately collapsed onto Aella’s bed.
Aella was speechless.
Seeing Daniel seriously hurt, Warren quickly told Aella to take him to the hospital.
Aella also wanted to get Daniel out of there as soon as possible. “I’ll take him to the hospital right now for an examination.”
About ten minutes later, they were in Daniel’s car.
Aella sat in the driver’s seat while Daniel sat in the passenger seat.
Aella gripped the steering wheel and turned to stare at Daniel. “I’ll drive you to the neighborhood entrance. You can drive yourself home from there.”
Daniel rubbed his back with a serious expression. “Dr. Reid, you kicked me off the bed. I really hurt my back!”
Aella remained silent.
Daniel said, “My oldest brother gives amazing massages. I’m going to have to trouble you to drive me home.”
Aella looked at Daniel, unable to tell if he was lying or not.
Aella hesitated but decided to drive Daniel home.
Tomorrow was New Year’s Eve. If she really had thrown out his back with that kick, he’d probably have to eat his dinner lying in bed.
Aella drove Daniel’s car out of the apartment building and merged into traffic.
The window of a black Bentley by the roadside slowly rolled down.
Tyrone stared at Aella and Daniel in the car, his expression slowly freezing as his chest churned.
Around 3 p.m., at the Hill Estate in the West District.
The Hill Estate’s automatic gate slowly opened, but Aella stopped the car and refused to drive any further.

Daniel unbuckled his seatbelt and held his back. Why’d you stop?”
Aella opened the car door and got out.
She said to Daniel, “Daniel, I’m not going in.”
Her relationship with Daniel was a bit of a mess. She hadn’t sorted out her feelings yet.
She barely knew Daniel, let alone his family. It was better not to intrude.
Daniel reached toward Aella. She quickly helped him out of the car.
“Daniel!”
Hearing the voice, they both turned around.
Aella saw a young girl bounce up to Daniel.
Aella recognized her as Daniel’s younger sister, Aurelia.
Seeing the group of people following behind Aurelia, Aella’s stomach dropped.
Why were so many people coming out?
Daniel introduced Aella to his family. “Michael, Sophia, Lysander, Aurelia, this is my colleague. She’s also Dr. Reid from the holistic medicine department at Westside Hospital.”
Aella was secretly amazed.
Daniel’s eldest brother and sister–in–law were elegantly dressed, the striking couple perfectly matched.
They looked like nobility straight out of a Renaissance painting, radiating an aura of refinement.
They were absolutely stunning to look at.
Sophia Chantu walked over with a smile and shook Aella’s hand. “Oh, so you’re his colleague!”
Aurelia circled around Aella. “Daniel, Aella is so pretty!”
The butler chimed in from the side, “This is the first time we’ve seen Mr. Hill bring a girl home.”
Sophia grabbed Aella’s hand and pulled her toward the house. “It’s cold out here. Let’s go inside and chat.”

Aella couldn’t handle this and dug in her heels.
This family was way too enthusiastic. She was a bit overwhelmed.
Aella smiled awkwardly and said to everyone, “That’s not necessary, Mrs. Hill.”
Michael Hill saw Aella stubbornly refusing to enter and subtly elbowed his wife.
Only then did Sophia release Aella.
Lysander asked Daniel, “How’d you throw out your back out of nowhere? W happen?”
Daniel glanced at Aella and answered honestly, At Dr. Reid’s house.”
Aella felt guilty and looked down.

Lysander asked Michael, “Michael, when Daniel left at noon, didn’t he say he was going to the hospital to handle something? How’d he end up at his subordinate’s house? Did I misheard him?”
