Chapter 469 My Fiancée
Michael said with a straight face, “Maybe we all misheard.”
His teasing tone was way too obvious. Aella felt even more embarrassed.
“Um, I have to get going. I have things to do.”
Aella said goodbye to everyone and turned to leave.
While she was no refined socialite, she could usually handle herself gracefu
situation.
This was the first time she’d been this mortified.
How humiliating.
At the Hill Estate entrance, Daniel pushed away the butler and his sister who were supporting him.
Michael asked, “Didn’t you say you threw out your back? Come in and I’ll give you a massage.”
Daniel replied, “I’m feeling better. No need to go through all that trouble.”
Sophia watched the three brothers walk shoulder to shoulder into the courtyard and couldn’t help but sigh.
The Hill men presented themselves to the world as steady, reserved, perfect gentlemen with sterling reputations. They had it all–prestigious family background, good looks, and exceptional abilities.
Only the Hill women knew it was all an act.
These three brothers were cunning as foxes, each more calculating and worse behaved than the last.
Her husband was already in his 40s. In public, he was stern and rigid, constantly maintaining his dignified image as chairman of Hill Group.
At home, though, he was mischievous as hell, like an overgrown child.
When he was being playful, he’d dance the rumba for her in his bathrobe. When he was being childish, he’d bicker with his sister until she cried.

On New Year’s Day, at the Winter Estate.
Around 2 to 3 p.m., the servants busily prepared the holiday dinner.
Tyrone’s grandfather, parents, and aunt’s family sat in the living room chatting.
Brad had come early to visit the elders and then took Raine to the Keller Residence. They hadn’t returned yet.
Tyrone stood alone by the panoramic windows, staring at his phone screen.
In years past on New Year’s Day, he would always go to the Reid Residence to visit with Aella’s parents.
On the second day, Aella would come to him and visit with the Winters‘ elders.
He’d gone to the Reid Residence this morning to visit Aella’s parents, only to find no one home.
He called Aella and learned she’d taken her parents to church to pray for blessings.
She was doing this on purpose.
Whether in their past life or this one, this was his first New Year completely without Aella.
He and Aella were like two opposing magnetic forces. The harder he tried to glose, the farther she pulled away.
His chest felt heavy, as if a rope had twisted around his heart, squeezing tighter and tighter until he could barely breathe.
Aella took her parents and brother to pray for blessings, go hiking, visit the winter market, and visit her relatives and friends. She didn’t spend a single day at home, not until the holiday break ended.

On the first day back to work after the holidays, ella and her colleague ran into Daniel in the hallway.
Aella greeted Daniel graciously, and Daniel responded politely.
Aella breathed a sigh of relief.
After a few days apart, Daniel was finally acting normal again–not acting crazy.
Daniel watched Aella and her colleague leave before returning to his office.
Daniel was about to go into the changing room when a young female docto entered.

Daniel asked, “Dr. Walsh, can I help you?”
Vinnie Walsh placed a gift on Daniel’s desk. “Happy New Year, Dr. Hill. I got you this coffee mug.”
Daniel glanced down at the gift on his desk. “Dr. Walsh, we’re just colleagues. Please don’t

Vinnie’s expression shifted the moment she heard Daniel say he had a girlfriend. “That’s impossible. Since when do you have a girlfriend: How could I not know?”
Daniel corrected her. “To be more precise, my fiancée. Your future boss’s wife.”
Vinnie looked embarrassed but refused to give up. “I don’t believe it. Your grandmother clearly said you didn’t have a girlfriend. She promised me she’d let me marry into the Hills.”
Daniel’s expression turned serious. “If my grandmother promised you that, then go ask her

After speaking, Daniel impatiently pressed the intercom and had his assistant escort Vinnie out and take the coffee mug with her.
Outside the office, Vinnie grabbed Daniel’s assistant and asked, “When did Dr. Hill get a girlfriend? What’s her name? Is she a doctor at our hospital?”
The assistant knew nothing. “Sorry, Dr. Walsh, I’d like to know the answers to those questions myself.”
Vinnie stormed into the elevator in a rage.
No matter what, her father was one of the board members at Westside Hospital.
Her family had been in medicine for three generations.
