Aella had spent the whole morning curious. “Come on, tell me. I’ve been hearing gossip nonstop since I got here.”
Raine lowered her voice dramatically. “I’m so happy, they’re all finally dead!”
Aella blinked. “Huh?”
Seeing Aella’s reaction, Raine let out two mischievous laughs.
She said, “While we were gone, Mr. Cunningham got poisoned by Anna, Shirley was killed by Zera, Mrs. Natasha was murdered by Zera and Anna together, then Zera killed Anna, and Zera’s sister–in–law Daphne beat Mrs. Guinevere so badly she’s half–deaf now.”
“Raine, slow down.” Aella was absolutely stunned. “What is this, a slaughterhouse? One after another?”
Raine slapped her own chest. “I’m not lying. Every bit of it is true!”
Raine continued, “Rachel caused a huge scene at her dad and Anna’s wedding, and brought a famous influencer to livestream the whole thing. But Mrs. Guinevere stirred up Shirley’s family and told them to storm the venue, and they even dragged Zera’s kid there. Zera and her mother’s reputations were destroyed, and Anna lost her baby.”
Aella went quiet, not knowing what to say.
Raine got more and more fired up.
“The Hills wanted to protect their reputation, so they forced Mrs. Natasha to drive Zera out. That’s how Zera got kicked out of the Hills.”
“And then?” Aella asked.
“Then, Zera was desperate and went to the Caldwells to force them to clear her name, but the Caldwells demanded money. They got into a huge fight, and Zera lost it and killed Shirley on the spot!” Raine said.
Aella let out a long exhale.
In her previous life, Zera had killed Tyrone’s younger brother.
She had thought this lifetime would turn out differently for her, but in the end, Zera still became a murderer.
Raine took a sip of her juice. “I’m not even done yet.”

She continued, “After Zera killed Shirley, Anna hid her. George tried to force Anna to hand Zera over to the police and beat her half to death. Anna snapped, stole all of George’s gold and cash, and ran. Before she escaped, she dumped a huge amount of rat poison into the rice cooker. The next morning, George and Mrs. Cunningham ate breakfast and were both poisoned. George didn’t make it, and he died.”
Aella tightened her grip on her fork and knife. “Then how did Mrs. Natasha die?”
Raine said, “Hang on, don’t rush the gossip, let me finish.”
She took another sip of juice.
“After Zera met up with Anna, they went to Calmwood Abbey to beg Mrs. Natasha to save them, but Mrs. Natasha told Zera to turn herself in. So Zera and her mother took her hostage and transferred all the money from Mrs. Natasha’s phone right there on the spot.”
Raine continued, “Mrs. Natasha wouldn’t let them leave, so the two of them killed her together. There was blood everywhere. Anna almost cracked her skull open.”
Aella stared at her medium–rare steak and she couldn’t take another bite. “Raine, stop.”
She felt nauseous.
But Raine wasn’t about to stop. “Aella, I’m not finished!”
She stabbed another piece of steak and popped it into her mouth before rushing to continue.
“You have no idea, Zera wasn’t even human anymore. To get away clean, she even killed her own biological mother. Then she ran off with the money, but my brother caught her at the foot of the mountain.”
Raine kept talking, but Aella had already drifted into her own thoughts.
She liked gossip and she was curious by nature, but anything related to Zera was something she wanted no part of.
She knew she’d stayed this clean because Tyrone had been working behind the scenes for her.
Two lifetimes… and Tyrone had finally done one thing right–he had kept her far away from
that storm.
He finally understood her, but it was already too late.
Zera had ended up like this because she had been too greedy.

If she had taken the Winters‘ 60 million and quietly stayed overseas, Tyrone wouldn’t have chased her down.
If she had behaved herself after coming back, instead of reaching for things that were never hers, she wouldn’t have fallen into ruin.
Aella had once been the same.
People only turn back after they’ve crashed headfirst into a wall.
But many times, many people aren’t lucky enough to get a second chance.
After work that evening, Aella stepped out through the staff exit and unexpectedly saw both Tyrone and Daniel waiting there.
The moment they saw her, they both walked toward her, they were clearly waiting for her.
Aella took a deep breath, then walked up to them on her own. “Tyrone, Daniel.”
Tyrone asked, “Are you free tonight? I need to talk to you.”
Daniel added, “Bad timing, I also need to talk to you.”
Tyrone and Daniel exchanged a look, then both turned their eyes to Aella.
Aella forced an awkward smile at the two of them.
Right then, Clyde came jogging over. “Aella!”
Clyde spotted Tyrone and happily rushed up to him, almost blurting out “brother–in–law,” but quickly corrected himself. “Tyrone.”
Aella quickly stepped in and said to Tyrone and Daniel, “Tyrone, Daniel, Clyde still has homework. I’ll take him home first.”
