Virginia grew angrier with every word she spoke. With a sharp crack, she smashed the glass in her hand onto the floor. Then, she grabbed Raine and turned to leave.
A mother knows her child best.
Virginia had noticed every change in Tyrone.
She once believed that, since Tyrone and Aella shared years of history, there was still a chance. Even if the wedding had been called off because of conflicts, if her son tried hard enough, they might find their way back to each other.
She never expected Aella to choose Daniel instead.
After Virginia and Raine left the living room, Ralph’s face turned dark with anger. “Smashing her glass in front of elders! This is totally unacceptable!”
Edwin’s expression was gloomy. “Justin, tell Tyrone to come back to the estate.”
Justin quickly called Tyrone, but once again, no one answered.
The next morning, at exactly eight o’clock, Tyrone showed up at the office.
Noel noticed that Tyrone was still wearing the same suit from the day before. He felt worried but also relieved. At least his boss was safe.
All night long, Noel’s phone had nearly exploded with calls, all asking for Tyrone.
He didn’t know what had happened, but it had to be something serious.
Tyrone sat down heavily at his desk. His eyes looked empty, unfocused.
Noel spoke respectfully, “Boss, your elder asked you to go home.”
Tyrone lowered his gaze and nodded.
He already knew what they would say. Aella was with Daniel now, and they would push him to settle down as soon as possible.
Just then, the phone on his desk began to vibrate.
When Tyrone saw Aella’s name on the screen, his chest tightened for no reason.

On the phone, Aella asked to meet that evening. Tyrone agreed without hesitation.
That evening, Tyrone left work carly and returned to Bluchaven.
He showered, shaved, and changed into a clean white shirt with a more casual suit.
After getting ready, he stood in front of the mirror and checked himself carefully.
He called Aella and asked, “Which restaurant do you want to go to tonight? I’ll make a reservation.”
Whatever Aella said on the phone made Tyrone’s smile slowly freeze.
After hanging up, he stood there for a long time, motionless.
Why did she want to meet there?
A faint sense of unease crept into his heart, but he still went out.
Just before eight in the evening, under the streetlight outside the Reid Estate.
Aella stood quietly. She wore a dusty rose dress with a light beige coat over it.

Her long hair was neatly gathered behind her head. She looked gentle and elegant, just like always.
Beside her stood a small carry–on suitcase.
Tyrone’s car was parked not far away.
Through the window, he stared at Aella under the streetlight.
Why was there a suitcase next to her?
Was she leaving Vleka with Daniel?
Tyrone sat in the car, lost in his thoughts, before finally gathering the courage to step out.
“It’s cold at night. Let’s talk in the car,” he said.
He bent down to pick up the suitcase so she could get in. Aella stepped forward and stopped him.
The two of them stood under the streetlight. Without saying a word, they both turned and looked toward the gate of the Reid Estate.

The yard looked exactly the same as before.

Aella tilted her head and looked at Tyrone. “Do you remember when we were kids? I used to beg you to push me on the swing.”
Tyrone lowered his eyes, his gaze fixed on her.
How could he forget? They had done that countless times since they were a kid.
When she was little, she sat on the swing while he stood beside her, pushing gently.
Later, when she started losing her baby teeth, she would wear pretty dresses and laugh loudly as he pushed her higher. Her laughter filled the whole yard.
As she grew older, she became more daring. She always complained he didn’t push hard enough or high enough.
While pushing, he worried she might fall. One of his hands always hovered in the air, ready to catch her.
Then, she became a teenager.
Every time he pushed the swing, she would turn back and smile at him.
Her eyes were warm, filled with feelings she never hid.
Tyrone was pulled deep into his memories.
Aella spoke again, “I’ve been thinking a lot lately.”
She paused, then turned fully to face him.
They looked at each other.
“What you gave me back then,” Aella said softly, “wasn’t only tears.”
That simple sentence made Tyrone’s eyes turn red.
“Aella…”
She let out a quiet sigh and forced a small smile.
“Tyrone, everything from the past–good or bad–is over for me now.”
Even though the Reid Estate had changed hands, this was where they met.

This was where it should end.
Tyrone struggled to move his lips, but no sound came out.

Aella bent down and opened the suitcase she had brought. Inside were the two gifts Tyrone had given her on her birthday.
They were still perfectly wrapped. She had never opened them.
Aella looked at him and said, “These are the gifts you gave me. I’ll keep the jewelry. But I can’t accept the other two.”
