Brad continued, “He was badly injured escaping from the Bullet Estate. He made it to the Vofgan pier and ran into Victor from the Webster Manor–that’s the only reason he’s still alive. When he got back, his dad beat him half to death on top of everything.”
Brad added, “While Edwin was dealing with the Bullets, he got so worked up that he fell down the stairs and had a stroke. He was out for days. Both the Winters and the McCarthys sent people to Vofgan. Tyrone was in the hospital for two months before he was well enough to come back to Vleka. He didn’t tell you any of this?”
Aella shook her head, tears streaming down her face.
No wonder Reid Group’s bankruptcy had seemed like a done deal, only for things to suddenly turn around.
No wonder she had blocked Tyrone and he hadn’t come looking for her for two whole months.
He had been out there risking his life to save her family’s company.
“Waaah…
“Brad, take me to him right now!”
Aella cried and smacked Brad at the same time.
Brad was completely innocent in all this.
When Aella was happy, she hit him. When she was mad, she hit him. When she was sad, she still hit him.
Thank God Tyrone’s little sister, Raine, wasn’t here.
If those two teamed up,
he’d get beaten even worse.
Brad rushed Aella over to the Regal Club.
He knocked and opened the door to the private room.
Tyrone glanced up at Brad and Aella in the doorway, then handed a credit card to Reginald.
Reginald took the card respectfully and left.
Aella rushed over to Tyrone and immediately started tugging at his shirt.
Tyrone grabbed the collar of his shirt and caught her wrist, lowering his voice to remind her that Brad was still there.
Aella’s eyes were red as she pulled at his collar. “Why didn’t you tell me you were hurt?”
Tyrone looked over at Brad.

Brad pointed toward the door. “You two take your time. I’m out.”
He stepped out of the room and closed the door behind him.

Aella dropped to one knee on the couch and pulled Tyrone’s hands away to unbutton his shirt. “Let me see your wounds.”
Tyrone grabbed her wrists again to stop her. “Don’t listen to Brad’s exaggerations. I’m fine now.”
Aella broke free from his grip and wrapped her arms around his neck, burying herself in his chest with a whine. “You almost died trying to save Reid Group. Why didn’t you tell me?”
Her body was soft and delicate, pressed right against his chest.
She tilted her head up, her warm breath brushing against his neck, making it hard for him to breathe.
Images from that night on the bed flashed unbidden through his mind, and his Adam’s apple bobbed uncontrollably.
He tried to push her away, but she only clung tighter.
Tyrone sighed in defeat. “You’re holding me too tight. You’re pulling at the wounds on my back.”
The moment she heard that, Aella let go.
Tyrone picked up the glass of red wine from the coffee table and downed it in one gulp.
The cold wine slid down his throat, slowly cooling the heat that had been building inside him.
Meeting Aella’s anxious, resentful gaze, Tyrone patiently explained, “I was stuck in Vofgan for the past two months. Things weren’t great, so I didn’t reach out.”
Aella lowered her head and took his hand, swinging his arm back and forth like a spoiled child. “I already took you off my blocklist just now.”
Tyrone said, “Last night when I came to see you, you tried to kill me with that wooden sword. You didn’t exactly give me a chance to explain.”
Aella whimpered and nuzzled into his arms again. “I was wrong, Tyrone. Please stop scolding me.”
Tyrone was used to her pouting and her little tantrums.
With a sigh, he asked, “Do you still want your gift?”
Aella looked up at his chiseled jawline and suddenly stole a kiss.
Tyrone caught her soft cheeks between his hands.
Their eyes met.
He held her face just like that, not saying a word, just watching her.

Aella squirmed and pouted, determined to steal another kiss.
Just then, Tyrone’s phone rang, shattering the moment.
Tyrone looked at Aella.
She obediently backed off to let him answer.
He glanced at the unknown number and declined the call.
Aella eyed his expression and suddenly lunged for his phone.
Seeing it was just an unknown number, she handed it back.

But thinking about that night when she had caught Tyrone with that woman on the street, her heart stung.
She glared at him. “I saw you with that woman the other night!”
Tyrone met her gaze calmly, his mind racing.
No matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t figure out which woman she was talking about.
Tyrone pulled her down to sit beside him. “What woman?”
Aella couldn’t believe he was still playing dumb. In a burst of frustration, she shoved him down and straddled him, pinning him beneath her.
Tyrone lay back against the armrest, his hands gripping her waist as he tried to lift her off him.
Aella went into full–on war mode.
She pounded on his chest, scratched, and bit him. “The woman you dated for two months! I saw you two together!”
She pouted angrily. “You said you broke up with her. So why were you still meeting up?”
