Tyrone’s expression didn’t waver. “I could say it ten more times and my answer would still be the same- I’m not joining Winter Group!”
Ralph pointed at him, his face turning red with rage. “You ungrateful brat! You’re the sole heir to Winter Group. Do you even realize what you’re saying?!”
Tyrone fired back, “My personal accounts were frozen without warning. My internship was suspended on a whim. Tell me, Dad–do I look like an heir to you?”
Ralph snapped, “Everything your grandfather and I did was for the company and for you! We’re businessmen. If we hadn’t suspended your position and frozen your accounts to stop you from helping the Reids, do you have any idea how much Winter Group would have lost?”
Inside the hospital room, Tyrone stood his ground against his father.
“So you’d rather watch your own son risk his life than loosen your grip on power and money?”
Ralph’s temper exploded, jabbing a finger at his son. “Did I ever ask you to risk your life?”
Tyrone replied, “If my only purpose is to generate profit for the company and be your puppet, then what’s the point of me taking over Winter Group?”
Ralph felt like all hope was lost.
He jabbed a finger at his son. “What the hell do you actually want?”
Tyrone answered calmly, “You and Grandpa have to guarantee that you won’t interfere with any of my decisions at the company.”
Ralph didn’t push back on that. “Your grandfather is bedridden and can’t even feed himself. What could he possibly interfere with?”
Ralph added, “Just help me bring your mother and sister home. Convince her not to divorce me. After that, I’ll stay out of company business for good!”
Tyrone refused to budge. “You’re the one who drove Mom away. Whether she divorces you isn’t my call.”
With that, he turned and walked out.
Tyrone left Edwin’s hospital room and headed out of the building with Brad.
In the parking lot in front of the hospital, Brad stood beside Tyrone’s car and noticed the small box sitting on the passenger seat.
Brad asked, “You still haven’t given that little thing to Aella?”
At the mention of Aella, Tyrone couldn’t help but frown.

Brad studied his reaction and broke into a grin. “I always thought Aella’s crush on you was one–sideri. Turns out you’ve got feelings for her too.”
Tyrone shot him a warning look.
Brad reminded him. “That girl’s got a temper. Before, you were worried Kian would go off the deep end and drag the Reids into it, so you told me to keep my mouth shut. But now the whole thing’s been taken care of. You nearly got yourself killed trying to save Reid Group. You can tell her the truth.”
Brad thumped his chest confidently. “I guarantee the second she finds out everything you did for her. she’ll pull you off that blocklist and throw herself into your arms.”
Tyrone sat in the driver’s seat, head bowed, lost in thought.
Brad let out a sigh and walked away.
Looked like he was going to have to give things a little push.
Friday at 7:00 p.m., Aella walked out of the music studio.
Spotting Brad’s sports car, she jogged over. “Brad! How come you’re picking me up?”
Brad took the violin case off her shoulder and opened the car door. “Get in. There’s something I need to tell you.”
Once they were both inside, Brad didn’t start the car right away.
He asked, “Tell me the truth–why did you block all of Tyrone’s contacts?”
Aella pouted and let out a little huff. “He already has a girlfriend. Why would I keep him around?”
Brad supposed that made sense.
But whatever Tyrone and Zera had going on hardly counted as a real relationship.
Brad explained, “Tyrone doesn’t have a girlfriend. That girl he dated for two months? She got hurt saving him once. She chased him for a whole year without asking for anything in return, and he finally agreed to give it a shot.”
He continued, “In those two months they were together, Tyrone kept their Friday dinners to exactly one hour every week–down to the minute. You really think that counts as dating?”
Friday?
He was having dinner with another woman while she was at her violin lessons every Friday.
Hmph!
Hmph, hmph!

Brad reassured her, “Relax. Even after two months of dating, all Tyrone lost was the cost of a few meals. He called her a cab every time–never once drove her home. Didn’t even let her touch so much as a thread on his clothes.”
Hearing that, Aella felt a little better.
She had a thing about cleanliness.
No matter how much she liked Tyrone.
If he wasn’t “clean“…
There was no way in hell she’d still want him.
She couldn’t help it.
It was a quirk she’d had her whole life, and she wasn’t about to change it now.
Brad cleared his throat and launched into his performance. “Aella, you have no idea–Tyrone almost died in Vofgan because of you!”
Aella was startled by his sudden dramatics. “Brad, since when are you more dramatic than me?”
Brad straightened his expression, his face turning dead serious. “When Reid Group was in trouble a while back, Tyrone hired a private investigator to dig into your dad’s competitor. To get the evidence and save Reid Group, he broke into the Bullet Estate in the middle of the night. I was right there when it happened.”
