Chapter 559 Not So Innocent After All
But Zera had insisted on her principles and stubbornly refused the five–million–dollar check.

Not long after, she confessed her feelings to him. When he rejected her, she persisted in chasing him for an entire year.
During that time, Zera was sweet and sensible, dignified and self–respecting. She never overstepped any boundaries and insisted on paying for her own bottle of water.
Though her family was poor and her mother favored her brother, making her life at home miserable, she never gave up. She was more hardworking and driven than most girls.
The time when her mother and brother beat her half to death and she ran away, he realized they were alike–both trapped in suffocating family environments, with parents who didn’t care about their children’s feelings and elders who lashed out at the slightest provocation.
After Zera pleaded, he relented and agreed to date her for a year.
He just never expected Aella to kiss him on the night of her 18th birthday.
In that moment, he realized the little girl who had followed him around since childhood had grown up.
There were things he needed to sort out.
He immediately changed his mind and ended things with Zera, adding another five million as compensation on the spot.
He hadn’t expected that the same Zera who once swore she wanted nothing in return for saving him would later demand more and more, using her sick mother as an excuse to come after that ten million.
Someone this calculating didn’t seem like the type to risk her life for a stranger.
Thank goodness Aella was clever enough to convert those ten million into Kruwpee.
Late at night, Bluehaven.
Tyrone stepped off the elevator and found Brad standing outside his door.
Brad held up his phone to show Tyrone the harassing calls from Zera.
Brad asked, “What’s going on between you and Zera? How did she even get my number?”
Tyrone glanced at the missed calls on Brad’s phone and frowned.
During the time he spent with Zera, he had never introduced her to his social circle.
Even if she knew Brad was his friend, he had never given her Brad’s contact information.

Brad caught the shift in his demeanor.
He tried to reason with Tyrone. “Come on, Tyrone. You’re not the stingy type. Ten million isn’t even enough to cover one limited–edition violin you bought Aella.”
Tyrone walked over to the liquor cabinet, grabbed two glasses, and handed one to Brad. “Zera isn’t worth

Bead pressed on. “She did save your life. And you were the one who agreed to date her for a year, then balled after two months. If she starts spreading this around, it won’t look good for you. This kind of money * pocket change to you. Just pay her off and be done with it once and for all.”
Tyrone looked at Brad. “Aella already converted that ten million into Kruwpee.”
Brad’s eyes went wide. “Come again?”
Tyrone said nothing, just stared at the red liquid swirling in his glass.
Brad let out a breath of defeat. Her parents spoiled her rotten growing up, and you enable her just as much. No wonder she’s such a handful!”
Brad complained for a good while before finally leaving.
After Brad left, Tyrone showered and lay down on his bed.
The sheets had been freshly changed, completely erasing any trace of Aella’s scent.
Without thinking, Tyrone reached over and touched the empty space beside him, his mind drifting back

The next morning, Tyrone arrived at the hospital.
The wound on his back still hadn’t healed, so he went to the examination room first to have his bandages changed before heading to Edwin’s ward.
Ralph had been keeping watch in the hospital room for days with no one to relieve him. He looked utterly exhausted.
Gone was his commanding tone. He spoke to Tyrone almost pleadingly. “Tyrone, Christmas is in two days. Come with me to the McCarthy Residence tonight to bring your mother and sister home.”
Tyrone stood at the foot of the bed and flatly refused. “Whatever’s going on between you and Mom is between you two. I’m not getting involved.”
Ralph was so worn out he didn’t even have the energy to lose his temper.
He tried a different approach. “Fine, I’ll figure out how to bring your mother home myself. But your aunt is back in the country. Tomorrow morning, I need you to escort your grandfather overseas for treatment with her.”
Tyrone refused that too. “Dad, you’re Grandpa’s only son. His care is your responsibility.” Ralph nearly choked on his own rage. “Your grandfather had that stroke because of you!”
