Ralph pointed at Tyrone, his face turning red with fury. If you hadn’t put ideas in her head, would your mother be asking for a divorce?

Tyrone’s expression remained calm, his hands tucked into the pockets of his dress pants, his gaze fixed on Edwin.

He said to his father, Dad, when the Reids were in trouble, I begged both of you for help. Not only did you freeze my accounts, you also pulled me from my internship at Winter Group. You were the ones who turned cold first.

Ralph snapped defensively, We did that so you wouldn’t get dragged down with the Reids! We were trying to protect you!

Tyrone replied, Grandpa’s stroke is a burden on this family too. Why don’t you just send him to a nursing home, Dad?

Ralph jabbed a finger at Tyrone, seething through clenched teeth. The man lying here is my father. Your own grandfather!

Tyrone nodded. So it turns out you do have people you care about. There are times when you don’t count the cost after all.”

That one sentence silenced Ralph completely.

He stared at his son and demanded, enunciating every word, Are you serious about that Reid girl?

Tyrone met his father’s furious gaze. Do I look like I’m joking, Dad?

Tyrone turned and walked out.

Ralph sank into his chair, drained of all strength.

He had spent half his life believing he had it alla successful career, a son and a daughter, a perfect family.

But now his father was lying in a hospital bed after a stroke.

He and his son were at odds.

His wife wanted a divorce and had taken their daughter to stay at her parentshouse, refusing to come home.

Every day after leaving the hospital, he returned to a cold, empty house with no one but the servants to

talk to.

Just then, Tyrone’s aunt pushed open the door.

Seeing how haggard and defeated her brother looked, Lara let out a sigh.

She sat down beside their father’s bed and said, If you don’t start reflecting on yourself, you’re going to lose your wife and kids for good.”

Ralph sat slumped in his chair, utterly exhausted.

Lara continued, I’m Dad’s daughter and even I can’t stand his temper. Why do you keep forcing Virginia and the kids to put up with it?

Ralph’s voice had lost all its usual arrogance.

He said wearily, I admit Dad and I both have bad tempers. She can complain and argue all she wants at home, but does it really have to go as far as divorce?

Lara asked, Virginia married you in an arranged marriage. The McCarthys are just as wealthy as the Winters. Why should she put up with your bad tempers?

Ralph hung his head in silence.

Lara pressed on. Virginia came into this marriage with her own money, her own shares, her own investments. She’s been nothing but kind to me and the rest of the family. She’s never touched a cent of your money. She forgave you for cheating on her for the sake of the kids, and instead of being grateful, you just kept criticizing her at every turn. If I were her, I would’ve divorced you a long time ago!

Lara added, Marriage is a long road. If you can’t be patient with your own wife, if you can’t cherish her and treat her well, how is she supposed to spend the next few decades with you?

Guilt flickered in Ralph’s eyes.

Lara asked, Be honest with yourself. If I were being treated like this by my husband’s family, could you stand it as my brother?

She pressed further. And what about someday in the future, when Raine gets married? If her husband’s family treated her the same way, how would you feel as her father?

Around 9 a.m., Tyrone arrived at the Reid Residence.

Aella’s mother greeted him warmly at the door. Tyrone! Have you had breakfast?

Tyrone lowered his eyes and said he wasn’t hungry.

The news about Tyrone’s parentsimpending divorce had already spread through their social circles.

Edwin had also been hospitalized after his stroke.

The Winters had to be in complete chaos.

Who would have time to think about breakfast?

Miriam saw through him but didn’t say anything. Aella just finished eating and went upstairs. Go on up.

I’ll bring you two some fruit.

Tyrone headed upstairs.

He pushed open the door to the main bedroom on the second floor. Aella was wearing a fuzzy cartoon pajama set, and the moment she saw him, she leaped up and wrapped her legs around his waist.

She threw her arms around his neck, beaming. What took you so long? I’ve been waiting forever!

The intimate embrace made Tyrone’s heart race.

Instinctively, he glanced at the open door, then grabbed her arms and tried to pry her off

Aella only clung tighter, pressing her face into the crook of his neck. I’m not getting down.”

Left with no choice, Tyrone kicked the door shut, walked over, and bent down to drop her onto the couch.

Aella seized the opportunity to wrap her arms around his neck again. After a prolonged tugofwar, Tyrone finally managed to peel her off.

He shrugged off his jacket. His white dress shirt was damp with sweat.

The thin fabric clung to his body, the faint outline of his abs visible beneath.

Meeting Aella’s fiery gaze, Tyrone walked straight into the study room.

Aella’s main bedroom suite featured a sitting room, which connected to her bedroom and a small study.

The bedroom led to a walkin closet and a bathroom.

The walkin closet alone spanned over 2,000 square feet.

The entire bedroom suite was decorated in a simple yet luxurious style, predominantly white, with girly touches in every detaila true princess suite.
