Chapter 603 The Receipts
Zera blurted out, “How do you know that?”
Those were supposed to be her lines. Aella was supposed to be the one caught off guard.
Aella only shrugged and looked at Tyrone.
Tyrone’s brow tightened. “Zera, when did I ever touch you, let alone promise you anything?”
Zera knew he wouldn’t admit it. She shot a glance at Jenny. She hurried over and handed her a phone.

Zera unlocked it and shoved the evidence she’d prepared in Aella’s face. “Mr. Winter, the first time we were together was over a year ago. You booked the hotel room. We went in at 11 p.m., and you didn’t leave until seven the next morning. We were at it the whole time.”
She lifted her chin. “The hotel has the booking record. They have security cameras, too. Check it.”
Still not satisfied, she mirrored the phone onto a screen so everyone could see. The images included photos she’d taken of the bruises on her body.
The room reacted instantly. Faces shifted as people leaned toward one another.
“Mr. Winter may look polished and proper, but he’s wild behind closed doors.”
“Rich guys all play around. She was just a college kid.”
“No wonder Ms. Caldwell wouldn’t let this go. Sounds like they were close.”
“It looks like the Reid heiress really is the third party.”
With the murmurs rising, even the Winters and Reids elders hesitated for a moment, unsure where the truth lay. Warren and Miriam didn’t waver. They moved to protect their daughter.
“If that’s what this is,” Warren said, jaw tight, “then this engagement doesn’t happen.”
Virginia’s heart jumped. She hurried to soothe them, trying to prevent Aella’s parents from ruining the whole night.
Aella glanced at Tyrone and muttered under her breath, “She sounds so sure. Don’t tell me you actually…?”
Tyrone answered without hesitation, “Don’t listen to her. I never touched her.”
Zera noticed the sympathetic looks turning her way, and she started to cry, wiping at her face as if she’d been wronged beyond words. She sobbed out the words, “When I was with Mr. Winter, I was just a poor college student. The Winters looked down on me. They said my background didn’t match. Fine, I accepted that.”
She edged a step closer to Tyrone, testing him. “But now, I’m a Hill. My status isn’t any worse than Ms. Reid’s. You don’t have to worry about anything. We had so many good memories. You told me that I was the only one in your heart. You can’t do this to me.”
Tonight, she was going to leave Tyrone with no way out.
Brad stood beside Tyrone and couldn’t hold it in. A laugh slipped out.

Aella turned and whispered, “Brad, hold it. I’m not done watching yet.”
Brad lifted a finger to his lips, forcing himself to calm down.
Tyrone checked the time, then slid an arm around Aella’s shoulders. Impatience sharpened his expression.

Finally, he spoke. “Zera, you told me that your mother and brother had beaten you that night. You said you had nowhere else to go and begged me for help. First, I took you to the hospital. There are records.”
The mood of the room shifted in an instant. The Winters and the Reids finally breathed a little easier.
Tyrone continued, “When we left the hospital, you said you had nowhere to stay. You didn’t have any money or ID, so I used my ID to book a room for you. I walked you to the room. You said you had a fever. You said you were scared and asked me to stay and keep an eye on you. Since you once saved my life, I agreed.”
His voice stayed flat, almost bored. “But all night, you were in the bedroom. I was in the living room. Nothing happened between
us.”
