Zera clutched the cleaner’s uniform tighter and stared in disbelief. She’d assumed that Tyrone had been gaming with someone, flirting, or chatting on his phone all night.

She glared at Tyrone and Aella, resentment burning behind her eyes.

Jenny, Vinnie, and the other women who’d come with Zera slipped deeper into the crowd.

Jenny whispered, “It looks like Zera played us. Mr. Winter doesn’t even have that kind of relationship with her.”

Vinnie nodded quickly. “We should get out of here before she drags us down with her.”

They exchanged a few quick words, then vanished without a sound.

Aella’s parents finally let out the breath they had been holding.

Ralph’s face twisted with disgust. She pointed at Zera as if she were dirt. “Someone like you isn’t fit to tie my son’s shoes. You think you can marry into the Winters? Keep dreaming.”

Zera burned with shame, but there was no turning back now. So she doubled down.

In front of everyone, she snapped back at Ralph, “Winter Group’s employees work for you. You have money and power. If you told them to swear that I murdered someone, they would!”

Virginia stood close to Miriam, her expression tight. She looked at Zera with open contempt. “I let you off once out of respect for the Hills. Leave now while you still can.”

She wasn’t about to let a pathetic clown ruin the relationship between two powerful families.

But Zera gave her a vicious look. She wanted to lunge across the carpet and tear Virginia apart.

Grinding her teeth, Zera shot back, “Tyrone is your son, the heir to Winter Group. If you want to clean this up for him, you have a hundred ways to do it. But you let him hurt me. You can deny it all you want. It’s still true.”

Ralph’s temper snapped. “Call the police. Now. Clear my son’s name.”

Aella almost applauded Ralph. Tyrone took out his phone and made the call himself.

The moment Zera heard the word “police,” her legs nearly gave out. She stumbled, barely keeping her footing on the red carpet.

Her case was still ongoing. She was already on the authorities‘ radar. If Tyrone decided to go after her for real this time, she’d be finished.

She’d thought the presence of the Hills meant the Winters wouldn’t dare push too far. Instead, Tyrone was calling the cops on her again.

When he looked at her again, he was filled with pure disgust and contempt. “Zera, everything you and I have done will be examined by the police. You planned all of this to drive a wedge between me and my fiancée. You went after her at every turn and threw away your own reputation to frame me.” His voice hardened. “This time, I’m making sure you rot in prison.”

Under the force of his stare, Zera retreated, her confidence cracking. She shot Aella a bitter look, grinding her teeth. Then she asked, slowly and deliberately, “I’ve known Tyrone for over a year. He says he never touched me. Do you actually believe that?”
