Virginia didn’t see it that way.

She demanded sharply, “Tyrone, explain yourself right now!”

Tyrone looked around at everyone.

“There’s nothing to explain. Getting engaged to Aella was my mistake. I didn’t think it through, and I regret it.”

That one sentence nearly made Virginia faint from anger.

Edwin slammed his cane and shouted, “You brat! Drop to your knees now!”

Without arguing, Tyrone dropped to his knees in front of Edwin.

Edwin turned to Justin. “Get the whip!”

“Our families just became connected. If the engagement is canceled so suddenly, people will gossip about both families and the kids.

“Let’s slow this down. Let them focus on their own lives for now. If, in two or three years, Aella still wants to cancel it, we won’t stop

her.”

Miriam shook her head. “I’m sorry, Mrs. Winter.

“Tyrone proposed the engagement, and now he wants to end it. Aella is only 19. Since his heart is no longer with her, we won’t let her carry the title of your future daughter–in–law.”
