Tyrone gave the order for the cruise ship to set sail. Aella glanced toward the deck with a small frown. “Tyrone, what about those three? Are they going to be alright?”

Tyrone rubbed her shoulder. “Trust Noel to handle it. They’ll be fine.”

Aella supposed that was true. Noel hadn’t become Tyrone’s right hand by being careless. If he said it was taken care of, it was taken care of.

She let out a yawn. Tyrone’s arms came around her waist and he lifted her off her feet. “Let’s go get some rest.”

He carried her into the bedroom and set her down on the bed. “I’m going to shower first.”

Aella looked up, caught the slow, syrupy look in his eyes, and immediately rolled over and burrowed herself deep into the far side of the bed. Tyrone watched her go with a curl at the corner of his mouth.

She pulled the blanket up and issued her warning from behind it. “Sleep only. Nothing else. Don’t even think about it.”

He nodded obediently and turned toward the bathroom.

Twenty minutes later, he returned in dark pajamas, crossed to the bed with easy familiarity, lifted the blanket, and settled in beside her, one arm looping around her to pull her close.

They looked at each other. Tyrone didn’t say anything. He just dipped his head and kissed her.

He felt her hands press against him in resistance and stopped. His lips stayed near hers. “Let me kiss you properly.”

Aella turned her face away from the warmth of his breath. “You say that and then you lie.”

He stayed where he was, his lips just barely grazing hers. “Only kissing. I’ll stop when it’s time. Nothing more tonight.”

She had been frightened out there, even if she hadn’t let it show. He just wanted to hold her and kiss her and let her feel that she was safe now. That was all.

He’d lost control back at her apartment and she’d been unable to get out of bed for two days. He wasn’t going to be careless with her again. She needed rest.

Aella planted both feet against his stomach and shoved. “Go sleep next door.”

Tyrone caught her by the ankles, pulled her gently back across the mattress, tucked her firmly against him, and closed his eyes.

Even like this, even just holding her, Tyrone felt a happiness so complete it didn’t seem entirely real. Like something out of a dream he hadn’t dared to have.

He didn’t know how much time passed. When he slowly opened his eyes again and looked down at Aella sleeping in his arms, something in his chest pulled tight. He kissed her hair, then her forehead, and couldn’t stop himself from pressing another kiss there.

He was going to work harder. From now on, her life was going to be nothing but clear skies. No

more storms.

Aella slept until she woke on her own. She reached for her phone. It was already past ten in the morning.

She looked around the room and found no sign of Tyrone, so she washed up, got dressed, and came out of the bedroom.

Tyrone was at the dining table, carefully arranging white roses. He was in black trousers and a white dress shirt with the hem untucked, which gave him a slightly more relaxed look than usual.

When he saw her coming, he met her halfway and pressed a good morning kiss to her lips. “Did you sleep well?”

Aella felt a smile pull at her before she could stop it.

She had woken up to a blue ocean stretching out beyond the windows.

A full breakfast laid out on the table by the glass. A romantic arrangement of roses in the center of it. A good morning kiss from the person she loved, and his arms warm around her.

She felt so happy it almost didn’t feel real.

She rested her chin against his chest and tipped her head back to look up at him. “Tyrone, you have to treat me like this every single day from now on.”

He looked down at her. Their eyes met. His gaze was steady and deep and entirely focused on

her.

He said one word, “Okay.”

From this point forward, everything he had was for Aella alone.

He was going to give twice as much, try twice as hard, and make up for every bit of closeness they had lost across two lifetimes.

They had breakfast together at the table by the window with the ocean spread out beyond them, and when they were done Tyrone took her hand and they walked out onto the deck. They stood at the railing kissing without any hurry about it.

That night, in the lavish suite, they were unhurried about everything.

They didn’t return to Vleka until the day before the new semester started.

The first thing Aella heard when she arrived back in the city was that Zera, Anna, and Jenny were dead.

Her chest tightened. She looked at Tyrone carefully. “Tyrone, you told me those three had been pulled out of the water.”

Tyrone turned to Noel. “What happened?”

Noel stepped close to Tyrone and lowered his voice, speaking quietly near his ear.

Aella’s eyes went sharp. “Mr. Frost, what exactly are you and your boss discussing that’s so classified I can’t hear it?”
