Chapter 681 The Note on the Counter

Chapter 681 The Note on the Counter

“Go take your shower first,” he said. “I’ll change the sheets.”

Aella swapped her shoes for slippers, then looped her arms around Tyrone’s neck and kissed him without holding back.

Her smile turned her eyes into crescent moons. “Tyrone, having you around is just the best thing ever!”

His hand settled at her waist, drawing her closer.

He studied her for a moment, something deeper flickering beneath the warmth in his gaze. “Aella, are you happy with me?”

She nodded without hesitation, her voice soft but certain. “Of course. I’m really happy.”

They stayed like that, faces inches apart, his gaze so full of tenderness it seemed to spill over.

Then, without warning, he swept her off her feet and cradled her against his chest.

He pressed his forehead to hers and dropped his voice low. “Tonight, I’m going to make you even happier.”

There was no mistaking the heat in his eyes this time. Aella didn’t pull away.

Instead, she slid her arms around his neck and pressed a kiss to the hollow of his throat.

His body tightened instantly. When he lowered his gaze, he found her looking up at him-soft, steady, and full of something that made his pulse quicken. His feet carried them forward before he could think to slow down.

The next morning, Aella woke early.

She turned her head and found Tyrone still asleep beside her, his breathing slow and even. A faint smile touched her lips.

He had been so gentle, so careful the night before, so that she could rest well and make it to school on time.

The moment he’d sensed her fatigue, he’d stopped immediately, choosing the cold solitude of the bathroom shower over pushing her further.

Aella slipped quietly out of bed, careful not to wake him.

In the kitchen, she put together a simple breakfast. A glass of fresh milk, scrambled eggs, and a handful of cherry tomatoes, bright as scattered jewels on the plate.

Before leaving, she scribbled a note on a piece of colored sticky paper and headed out.

She needed to leave early today. There was a conversation she had to finish with Cassandra.

About ten minutes later, Tyrone stirred awake.

His hand reached for the space beside him out of habit. Then he shot upright.

His eyes swept the bedroom. No Aella. For a moment, something hollow opened up in his chest.

He threw off the covers and got to his feet. “Aella?”

He searched the bedroom, then the bathroom, then the living room, and finally made his way to the kitchen.

There sat the breakfast she’d made for him. And there, on the counter, the little square of colored paper.

“A little breakfast made for my husband!”

Just a few words, written in the same bold, confident cursive that matched her personality.

Tyrone lowered his head and pressed a light kiss to the ink. The color of the note seemed to seep into his mood, brightening it in a way that lasted through the entire day.

As evening came, Tyrone told his driver to head straight to the gates of Aella’s school.

“Mr. Winter, Ms. Reid is here.”

Noel spotted her emerging from the campus entrance and promptly alerted his boss.

Tyrone smoothed down his suit jacket and stepped out of the car.

Then he saw her, laughing and chatting with a young man dressed in trendy clothes as they walked out together. The smile on Tyrone’s face slowly faded.

Aella had her hair pulled back in a high half-ponytail. Beneath her navy academic-style coat, she wore the pleated skirt of her school uniform.

The young man dressed in effortless streetwear, headphones slung around his neck.

Side by side, they looked… well-matched.

Tyrone glanced down at his own dark suit, suddenly aware of how rigid it felt.

Across the pavement, Aella spotted him waiting for her, and her smile grew even brighter. “Tyrone!”

She jogged toward him, the boy beside her keeping pace.

Tyrone reached out and pulled her into his arms, his hand firm at her shoulder. “Who’s he?”

She made the introduction easily. “Tyrone, this is Cyrus Agron. He just transferred into our class.”

Cyrus felt the weight of Tyrone’s presence immediately.

He glanced at Aella, a little cautious. “And this is…?”

Aella felt Tyrone’s grip tighten slightly against her shoulder.

She tilted her head, a hint of mischief slipping into her tone. “Cyrus, this is my older brother.”

Cyrus relaxed at once, stepping forward politely. “Nice to meet you.”

The word “brother” made Tyrone’s expression go dark on the spot.

After a brief exchange, Cyrus took his leave. Tyrone said nothing as he led Aella to the car.

Once inside, the partition slid up, sealing them into their own quiet space.

Without a word, he lifted her onto his lap.

She found herself looking straight into his eyes. He looked so serious.
