Falcon wanted to stop it, but it was too late.
He deeply regretted getting involved.
:
The main screen lit up, playing a video of Beatrice Ashford’s meeting with him.
“Falcon, here’s one million dollars,” Beatrice’s voice echoed through the hall.

“For tomorrow’s competition, I need you to help Eliana. The girl just returned from abroad and is incredibly talented in design. She won’t disappoint you. There’s also a girl named Stella Hale. If she competes, I need you to make sure she’s eliminated…”
The two–minute clip left everyone stunned.
Dylan felt a hot flush of shame creep up his neck.
He couldn’t believe his own mother would stoop to helping Eliana in such a way.
Falcon shot a hateful glare at Joseph. That old bastard had really gone for the throat.
Joseph spoke with a heavy tone. “Frankly, this sort of thing isn’t unheard of in our circle. But you all went too far. The Ashfords are a powerful family in Kingsbridge, and I don’t want to make enemies. But I couldn’t stand by and watch you bully a young woman like that.”
Dylan looked at Serena, his eyes filled with guilt, but she refused to meet his gaze.
The story of the Ashford family’s one–million–dollar bribe exploded online.
The family’s name was dragged through the mud.
Eliana and Beatrice were getting absolutely dragged in the comments.
Back at the event, Serena was declared the winner.
Falcon was expelled from the Fashion Guild.
Further investigations revealed other scandals, including keeping mistresses and financial misconduct, permanently ending his career in the design world.
After the official results were announced on the website, the competition concluded.
As soon as it was over, Serena went to find Kendall Brett.
She knew of the designer’s reputation and strong skills and wanted to hire her as the design director for her
company.
Joseph jogged to catch up with her. “Serena, kiddo, wait up.”

Serena stopped and turned to the breathless old man, a smile on her face. “Joseph, is something wrong?”
“Something wrong? Of course, something’s wrong! Couldn’t you wait for me to finish before running off? Who are you in such a hurry to see?”
Joseph took a deep breath, feeling his age. He really couldn’t run like he used to.
Serena chuckled. “I’m going to find Kendall Brett. I want to offer her a position as my company’s design director.”
Joseph nodded in approval. “Kendall is a good one. Trustworthy, talented. You can count on her. Anyway, the real reason I came to find you is that I’m on my way to see your grandfather. Do you have any message for him?”
Serena smiled and handed Joseph a bracelet made of deep blue tanzanite beads, each one polished to a perfect, lustrous sheen. “Here, Joseph. It’s just a little something. Grandpa and I talk on the phone every day, so I’ll tell him myself if there’s anything.”
Joseph’s face lit up when he saw the tanzanites. “Oh, thank you, kiddo! I’m off, then. Going to go fishing with your grandpa.”
Serena smiled and waved him off.
But Joseph paused, then added, “Serena, back then, you were so busy trying to save someone… I didn’t keep a good eye on your designs, and that woman Eliana stole them. It’s the most despicable thing a designer can do. And that Beatrice Ashford is no good either. You should be careful. A few years ago, I saw Beatrice taking Eliana abroad. We were on the same flight. She seemed awfully fond of her.”
Serena was taken aback. “A few years ago? Joseph, do you remember when exactly?”
“Four years ago,” he said. “Eliana seemed pregnant at the time. She had terrible morning sickness. If you do the math, her child should be almost four by now. Anyway, kiddo, I’m really going now.”
Serena stood frozen in shock. What stunned her was that Beatrice knew Eliana was pregnant back then.
She had even accompanied her. The timing was damning–that was right around the time Serena had returned to care for Dylan after his accident. Eliana, upon learning of Dylan’s crash and bankruptcy, had abandoned him and run off with another man.
And Beatrice knew all of it, yet she hadn’t held it against Eliana.
What mother–in–law in the world would be that tolerant of a daughter–in–law carrying another man’s child?
