Miles’s gaze wavered slightly as he respectfully handed over the file.

Dylan quickly flipped it open. Name: Stella Hale. Age: twenty–three. Height: 5’6“. And that was all.

Dylan slammed the folder down on the table. “Miles, a whole month, and this is all you have?”

He had to find Stella. He needed to ask her why she had a liver transplant, and who it was for.

‘Stella Hale‘ was a false name. He couldn’t find anything. He needed to ask her himself.

Miles was equally stunned. He hadn’t realized how deep the mystery went until he started digging.

Stella’s entire life appeared to be fabricated. Even her disappearance from the hospital was untraceable.

Miles said truthfully, “Mr. Ashford, I cannot find any substantial information on Ms. Hale. The small town she lived in for a while… she wasn’t from there. It seems the name ‘Stella Hale‘ itself might be an alias. There is no record of such a person.”

A pensive, dangerous light appeared in Dylan’s usually mocking eyes. A wicked smirk played on his lips. “So, for all these years by my side, Stella was living under a fake identity. And I… I don’t even know who the woman I married really was?”

He sneered inwardly, ‘How laughable. My wife is a phantom. If Stella chooses to vanish, I probably will never find her.

Miles recognized this expression. It meant Dylan was furious.

He couldn’t help but speak up. “Mr. Ashford, even if Ms. Hale used a different name, in all these years she never did anything to harm you or the Ashford family.

“On the contrary, she dedicated herself entirely to helping the family, to making it stronger.

“But your family… they treated her with cold disdain. Because she appeared to be an orphan with no background, she endured constant insults from your sister and your mother, who never considered all she had done for the household.

“In my view, the divorce might actually have been a release for her.”

In Miles’s eyes, the Ashford family’s current standing was largely due to her efforts. Yet no one in the family acted with basic decency.

The moment Eliana returned, Dylan rushed to divorce Stella and marry her. Miles thought it was a real asshole move.

And Dylan had fathered a child with Eliana while still married to Stella. Miles felt it was utterly undeserved on Stella’s part. ‘Mr. Ashford, Eliana Lambert, and the rest of the Ashfords are pieces of real trash.

Dylan looked up at Miles, an aura of dangerous arrogance emanating from him. “Miles. Are you pleading her case?”

Miles had worked for Dylan for many years. He knew how angry Dylan was right now.

Miles’s heart sank. ‘Oh no. Did I just sign my own death warrant? Can I take those words back? Maybe I didn’t wash my hair today and my brain isn’t working

He lowered his head. “I wouldn’t dare, Mr. Ashford. I was merely stating the facts as I see them. Some people engage in emotional drama, but you… you divorced for love,”

‘Silence is golden. Shut up, earn money, survive the capitalist boss. Miles fell silent.

Dylan stood up, anger radiating from him. Every word Miles said felt like an accusation, highlighting how terrible a man he was, how ungrateful his family had been.

A cold, menacing aura thickened around Dylan. “Keep looking. You must find her.”

A suspicion had taken root in his mind, one he was afraid to confirm.

Miles had already searched for a month. There was truly nothing to find.
