Nolan’s gaze turned icy and sharp in an instant. “Beatrice, don’t force me to burn every bridge. You know exactly what you’ve done. If you refuse to sign, I guarantee their whole family will be ruined by tomorrow.”
Beatrice’s eyes welled up with tears as she looked at the cold, heartless man before her. After all these years, he still wouldn’t even spare her a glance.
But she made sure he’d never end up with the woman he truly loved. In the end, she was the winner. For the rest of his life, he’d never get to be with her.
And Dylan was still her son.
But she couldn’t allow herself to get divorced while carrying a reputation like this.
“Dylan, did you see that? Your dad is actually accusing me of things just to divorce me. Fine, I’ll go through with the divorce, but you have to live with me,” Beatrice said.
Dylan glanced at his dad, knowing he’d never lie. Dylan scoffed, his voice icy. “Mom, you’re not the mom I remember anymore.”
She had an affair, helped Eliana steal a child, bribed Falcon, and even swiped the designs.
All the signs were there, but he still chose to trust Eliana again.
Again and again, he hurt Stella.
He let out a cold, self–deprecating laugh. He thought he was clever, but his mom and Eliana had him running in circles the
whole time.
No wonder Stella said he’d never really trusted her, not once. He truly hadn’t. Eliana’s letters brought him back from the brink, Stella’s medicine kept him hanging on, and Eliana’s liver saved his life all over again.
He let out a bitter laugh. “Eliana, do you even get it? I’ve always trusted you, no matter what. Whatever you said, I believed it. But you? Why did you do this? I let you raise the kid, so why did you have to hurt him day after day?”
Eliana shook her head frantically as Dylan grilled her. “Dylan, I… I haven’t been in a good place these past few years. Sometimes, when I get really down, I end up hurting the people around me. I swear I didn’t mean it. I really didn’t. Just let me have him back, I promise I’ll treat him right…”
“Shut up! You wanted to kill Liam so your own kid could take his place. Eliana, how could you say something so cruel to a kid?” Dylan finally snapped.
He’d finally had enough.
Beatrice hurried over and steadied Eliana, fuming. She thought, ‘At a time like this, what’s the use of saying all that?‘
“Dylan, you know Eliana saved your life. So why aren’t you rushing her to the hospital? If you wait any longer, her hand will be done for, Beatrice barked.
Dylan turned and walked away, his back straight and unyielding, radiating indifference.
Nolan didn’t say a word. He looked around at the familiar surroundings, but this was the one place he hated most. He picked up the signed divorce papers and left.
Only Eliana and Beatrice were left in the living room.

Eliana was drowning in despair. It felt like an invisible hand was squeezing her heart, making it impossible to breathe. Her whole body was trembling, like a dead leaf about to fall from a tree.
Everything had been exposed. Her mind went completely blank. She thought, ‘What am I supposed to do now?‘
She thought, ‘It’s all because of that bitch Stella. How did she even find out the truth?‘
Tears streamed down her cheeks as she turned anxiously to Beatrice. “Mrs. Ashford, what should I do? Dylan doesn’t want me anymore, does he?”
Beatrice slapped her hard across the face.
Beatrice stared at her in disappointment, thinking, ‘How could she end up with an illness like that?‘
Beatrice’s own tears fell. She thought, ‘I ruined my own daughter. If I hadn’t let her be raised by the Lamberts, she wouldn’t have ended up like this.
“How could you be so reckless with yourself? Dylan wouldn’t have minded you having a daughter, but it’s that illness that really got to him. Back when you were pregnant and I came to see you, why didn’t you tell me you’d gotten sick? How could you be so reckless?” Beatrice snapped.
