“Alright, Mrs. Ashford. It’s going to take a hefty sum to get the doctor on our side, so you’d better wire me the money ASAP,” the person said.
And with that, he hung up.
Beatrice felt her whole body go limp with fear. If Nolan ever found out the truth, and about how she’d gone to see that woman all those years ago, he might actually kill her.
Right now, the only reason Nolan was holding back was that she was Dylan’s mother.
But if the truth ever came out, Nolan would stop at nothing to destroy her.
Eliana watched Beatrice, worried. “What’s wrong?”
Beatrice was a mess, her forehead slick with cold sweat, her hands freezing. Fear wrapped around her like a suffocating blanket.
After a long moment, Beatrice finally snapped out of it, her voice trembling uncontrollably as she looked at Eliana. “Nolan’s starting to suspect Dylan and me.
“We absolutely can’t let him find out the truth, or he’ll have us both locked up. You have no idea how ruthless he is.
“He could punish himself for the rest of his life for the woman he loves, and he could just as easily take our lives for her.”
Eliana froze up, like something was holding her back, and she couldn’t move a muscle.
After she was injured, her face had turned pale. Now, the news had thrown her into panic, draining all color from her face.
Her voice shook as Eliana said, “Can’t you just act like a normal person for once? You abandoned me, and you never should’ve come looking for me again.
“If you hadn’t kept manipulating and tempting me, I never would’ve fallen for Dylan, I never would’ve met Tyler, and my daughter would still be with me.”
Just thinking about her daughter made Eliana fall apart. She’d carried her for nine months, and in the end, she’d abandoned her daughter, just like her own mother had abandoned her.
Eliana cried quietly, feeling utterly devastated as she pictured her daughter’s adorable little face.
Her little girl could already call her “Mommy,” but Eliana had made her own daughter an orphan.
Beatrice was so strung out with worry that she couldn’t even spare a thought for Eliana’s feelings.
She transferred the money and sat there on pins and needles, waiting for any word.
Kismet Bar was still blowing up online, and the drama just wouldn’t die down.
Jasper was holed up at home, drinking alone. Every time he saw news about Kismet Bar getting close to exposing the truth, a wave of dread washed over him.
He’d wanted Kismet Bar to go bankrupt, but those morons totally screwed up and left a trail of incriminating evidence
behind.
His son was stuck in jail, and his daughter had cut ties with them. Jasper was drowning in misery.

Jasper kept his eyes glued to the news, and since there was nothing about Kismet Bar being exposed, he finally felt relieved.
His phone started vibrating. When Jasper checked, it was Eliana.
Jasper was taken aback for a moment, hoping his daughter had finally changed her mind. He quickly picked up, grinning from ear to ear.
“Eliana, you finally decided to forgive me? Are you willing to help me again?” he said, his voice full of hope.
Eliana said, her voice trembling, “Dad, we’re family. How could I ever turn my back on you? Back then, I had no choice but to let you and Mom down.
“But now, Nolan’s against me and Dylan being together. Dad, what am I supposed to do? If I can marry into the Ashford family, the Lambert family could finally make a comeback.
