“Hey, Dad,” Eliana said, trying to keep her voice steady. She didn’t want Jasper to catch on to anything.
“Eliana, I’ve taken care of the trouble for you. Just make sure you keep your promise to me,” Jasper said, his voice full of excitement, as if he could already see stacks of cash waving at him.
Eliana put on a surprised tone. “Dad, what are you talking about?”
Jasper replied, “Eliana, don’t worry about what I’m saying. Now, nothing is stopping you and Dylan from being together. Just focus on that.”
Eliana let out a sigh of relief. ‘Thank goodness. Jasper would do anything as long as there’s money involved,‘ she thought.
Eliana hung up the phone and looked at Beatrice with a triumphant grin. “It’s all settled.”
Eliana couldn’t help but laugh out loud, her excitement overflowing.
But Beatrice just sat there, tears streaming down her face. Even with all the cruelty in her heart, she still couldn’t stand to watch the man she loved walk toward his death.
But Nolan didn’t love her. That was a pain she’d never get over, no matter how long she lived.
Eliana let out a cold laugh. “Why are you crying? We’re both safe now. What matters most is getting Dylan back. Even if his days are numbered, everything he owns will end up in our hands.”
Beatrice shook her head. “No way. I know him too well. He has already handed the Lambert family billions. If money meant anything to him, he’s given you more than enough.
“He won’t have any sympathy left for you, especially after what happened with Stella’s kid. We set him up, too. He’ll never forgive us.”
Eliana’s eyes burned with hatred, her face twisted in fury. “Then we’ll just have to make him forgive me. Don’t forget, I’m the one who saved his life.”
Beatrice took a deep breath, staring at Eliana’s greedy face. This woman was just as ruthless as she was. “Alright, let’s see if it
works.”
Eliana thought, ‘Dylan still remembers what I did for him. Now that Nolan’s dead, and Dylan only has half a year left, the Ashford family is as good as mine.
Dylan, don’t blame me for this. If you want to blame someone, blame your own rotten luck.’
Dylan was restless today. He barely paid attention during the company meeting, his mind wandering the whole time.
He wrapped up the meeting early. The company’s stock was crashing, but with Spencer backing him up, things didn’t completely fall apart. At least for now, he had a little breathing room.
Dylan called his grandfather.
Dylan asked, “Grandpa, where’s Dad right now?”
He just couldn’t shake the feeling that something was wrong.
Jacob said, “Your dad said he had to step out for something this morning and still hasn’t come back.”

Jacob replied, “No, he just said he had something important to take care of. He said he’d be back to have dinner with us, but he still isn’t back yet.”
Dylan said, “Alright, Grandpa. Don’t worry. I’ll give Dad a call.”
After hanging up, Dylan called his dad three times, but he couldn’t get through at all.
