From Divorced Wife To The Top Heiress novel Chapter 173

Kendall looked at her gratefully, feeling like she’d finally met someone who would turn her luck around.

She was a hundred percent sure her gut feeling was right.

Okay! She turned and picked up her bag.

Serena led her to the office. Seeing Lyra playing with Liam, she walked in with a smile. Sweetie, how about letting Lyra take you home? Mommy is going to Mrs. Brett’s place to check on her daughter and will be back soon.

As soon as Liam heard his mom wasn’t taking him home, his little face fell.

Mommy, I’ll be good, but you just got better. You need to rest and take care of yourself, okay?he said.

Liam was worried his mom might get sick again and not have time for him.

Serena’s heart melted at her son’s concern. She smiled at him, full of affection. Sweetie, I’ll be back soon. I promise I’ll come home and have dinner with you.

After that, we’ll go to the amusement park. You love the ball pit, don’t you? Mommy will play with you again tonight.

Yay! Okay!Liam’s face lit up instantly.

His big eyes curved into crescents, looking absolutely adorable.

Serena’s smile grew even gentler. She thought, Liam is the reason she loves life.

His adorable little face is just irresistible.

He is the best gift she ever received.

Serena asked Lyra to take Liam home. After Kendall gave her the address, Serena had Chris drive her and Kendall to Kendall’s place.

Leaves drifted down from the sycamore trees lining the road, carried by the autumn breeze.

Serena made idle conversation with Kendall, her words trailing off here and there, not really focused on the chat.

When Kendall’s daughter was born, there was a tiny lump on the back of her head. At first, it didn’t hurt or itch, and the doctors all said it was nothing serious.

But then the lump just kept getting bigger, and her little girl was in more and more pain. Over the past two years, Kendall had taken her to countless doctors, but none of it made a difference.

Kendall even tried calling in favors, but most doctors said her daughter was just too young for surgery

In the last six months, the lump started pressing on her nerves and creeping closer to her blood vessels. Most doctors didn’t want to take the risk of operating on her.

Kendall had been balancing work and caring for her daughter, and these past few years, she was barely scraping by.

My motherinlaw is always calling her a jinx, Kendall said, her voice trembling. She hates my daughter and blames me for spending all the family’s money on her

Her voice broke, and she couldn’t bring herself to say more.

Seeing Kendall so upset, Serena gently patted her arm. Hey, Mrs. Brett, hang in there. Everything’s going to be okay.”

Yeah, Ms. Hale, I believe that, too,Kendall replied, her voice shaky but determined. I’m fighting so hard, loving my daughter with everything I’ve got. She will get better.”

The two women shared a smile. As mothers, they knew exactly what the other was feeling.

Forty minutes later, they arrived at Kendall’s place.

Kendall had been barely scraping by these past two years, pouring everything she had into getting her daughter the medical care she needed.

She lived in a threebedroom place that her mom gave her as a wedding gift. No matter how tough things got, she never sold it. She wanted her family to have a safe, stable home.

She hustled every day, doing whatever she could just to keep their lives afloat.

As soon as Kendall opened the door, she was greeted by her motherinlaw’s nasty voice.

Someone swore, All you ever do is cry! You’re nothing but a money pit! What do I care if your head hurts? Cry yourself to death for all I care! Every single day, it’s just crying!

You are a jinx! Move out of my way! And your mom, that walking disaster, wasn’t she supposed to be back hours ago? Why isn’t she home yet?

Mommy, where are you?Cassie wailed, her cries ripping through the house.

Kendall’s eyes widened in shock as she heard Cassie’s gutwrenching cries and her motherinlaw’s nasty yelling. Is this what my little girl goes through when I’m not here?Kendall thought.
