“Dylan, my father would never sell counterfeit liquor to the Ashford family,” Eliana said, forcing herself to stay calm.
In truth, Eliana had no real confidence. ‘Dad and Simon are capable of anything. I hope they didn’t actually sell counterfeit liquor to the Ashford family, too,‘ she wondered.
Serena didn’t speak. She merely cast a cool, indifferent glance at Dylan.
‘Dylan, if one day you realize that the person you’ve always doubted and hurt was actually the one who saved you countless times, would you feel even a shred of guilt?‘ Serena thought.
Over the past few years, Serena had clung stubbornly to this relationship. She felt like someone walking alone through a vast desert; whether she moved forward or turned back seemed to have nothing to do with Dylan
anymore.
One step forward meant endless distance. One step back meant deathly emptiness.
The reason was simple. Serena had once loved Dylan deeply enough to give him everything she had.
Looking at Serena, lost in quiet sorrow, Dylan said, “Stella, about this matter, I hope you can give me some time to investigate and get to the bottom of it.”
Serena pointed toward the warehouse. “All the liquor the Lambert family delivered is stored in the warehouse. You can take it for testing. After that, get out of my sight. Don’t ever show up in front of me again.”
Serena was disappointed in Dylan to the extreme.
Dylan frowned, his striking brows drawn tightly together.
‘Could it be that the Lambert family really did sell counterfeit liquor?‘ he wondered.
Just then, Spencer spoke slowly. “Dylan, whenever Eliana is involved, you lose your ability to judge. You always pin every mistake on Stella. I get that you love Eliana, but don’t be stupid, okay?
“These bottles have already been tested. They’re all blended counterfeit liquor. It’s basically like selling a 0.35- dollar bottle of water for 35 dollars. The profit margin is staggering.”
He added, “I’m also wondering whether you were involved. I heard you invested a sum of money into the Lambert family, most likely into their distillery. You’re ruthless. Even after the divorce, you still won’t let Stella go.”
“Spencer, that’s not how it is,” Dylan said, caught off guard by the accusation. “I did invest money into the Lambert family’s distillery, but they wouldn’t produce counterfeit liquor.”
Dylan refused to believe Jasper would gamble the company’s future like that.

Spencer didn’t say anything else. Dylan loved Eliana to the point of obsession; for her sake, Dylan was even willing to sacrifice the entire company.
“Stella, don’t waste time on them,” Spencer said. “If they keep pushing, just release the counterfeit liquor inspection reports. The contract calls for tenfold compensation. Let the supplier pay. You don’t need to work this hard investigating it yourselves.”
Eliana was terrified inside.
She wondered, ‘What do I do? Dad called during breakfast. Chances are, almost all of it is counterfeit liquor. How dare they pull something like this?‘
“Dylan, let’s go see my father first and hear what he has to say,” Eliana said softly. “If he really didn’t sell counterfeit liquor, then you must help me get justice for the humiliation I suffered here today.”
She shot Serena a vicious look.
