Dylan’s gaze was grim as he looked at his mother, who suddenly barged in. “I choose Stella. She’s the mother of my child, and she’s my wife.”
Serena’s heart skipped a beat. This time, he didn’t hesitate at all. He chose her.
But unfortunately, she didn’t want him back anymore. The scars from the past just wouldn’t heal.
Beatrice froze for a moment. She never expected Dylan to choose Serena so quickly and firmly.
She was nearby when Eliana called, so she rushed over. She didn’t mind Dylan being with anyone else as long as it was not Serena.
This woman had wrecked everything she’d worked for all these years.
“Dylan, I won’t deny that Stella helped our family in the past, but Eliana is still my top choice for daughter–in–law. Marry her or the Ellington family’s daughter. Either way, our family will only grow stronger,” Beatrice insisted.
Beatrice knew how talented Serena was, but it was also this woman who had ruined everything for her.
She’d been busy trying to transfer Nolan’s assets, only to realize Dylan had locked everything down tight.
So, she had no choice but to hold on to Dylan.
Trying to take the assets from Nolan wasn’t going to happen anytime soon. Dylan was just too ruthless. In just a few months, he’d made the company more powerful than ever.
But as long as she was still breathing, she would never let those two end up together.
Serena was way too clever. Beatrice could never outsmart her.
Dylan frowned, genuinely puzzled. “Why have you always pushed me toward Eliana? She’s going to marry into the Lennox family. Why the hell do you want me to marry her?”
Beatrice was speechless.
Dylan still couldn’t figure out what she was thinking.
Serena watched Beatrice, who could barely speak, and let out a mocking laugh. “Beatrice, isn’t this the real reason Nolan ended up in the accident?
“Poor Nolan. The moment he learned the truth, someone made sure he and that paternity test got tossed straight into the
river.”
Just a few casual words from Serena had Beatrice acting like she was facing her worst enemy, panic written all over her face.
“Stella, what nonsense are you spouting? Let me tell you, you’re nothing but a jinx. If you hadn’t married into our family-”
“Oh? A jinx? Then who’s been letting you live the high life all these years?
“I’m way too good for you to call me a jinx. You’re just some random nobody. What makes you think you have the right to judge me?
“Why are you so eager to badmouth me? What, getting nervous now?” Serena shot back.
Dylan stared at Serena in shock. “Stella, do you know what happened to my dad?”
