Sharon’s cheeks turned red with anger as she shot Serena a glare. “Stella, keep talking big! Now you’re even bringing up my grandpa? As if he’d ever care about some assistant like you.”

Serena shook her head and thought, ‘Sharon is so naive. Both Jonathan and Logan are from the Ellington family, but they’re so different!‘

Logan always showed respect to everyone, even the janitor. But Jonathan always acted like he was above everyone else.

Serena flashed a careless smile. “He probably wouldn’t even bother with someone like me. But when you ger back, don’t forget to tell him it was you who stopped me from going in, not me refusing to enter. Any consequences are your own.”

Serena turned and walked away.

She thought, ‘It’s not like there aren’t cozy spots everywhere. Why stick around here?‘

She’d been itching to kick that old man out for ages, and now, with his granddaughter giving her attitude, this was just the chance she needed.

The Ellington family had already started showing signs of disloyalty. After some digging, Serena discovered that they had planted a lot of their own people inside it. She’d managed to weed out a few, but there were still plenty lurking in the shadows.

Whether she could clean house all at once this time depended entirely on Sharon.

Eliana and Yvonne stood off to the side, looking furious.

Yvonne knew all about what had happened that night. Sharon’s father had assaulted Eliana.

It was supposed to stay a secret, but Sharon just spilled it in front of everyone.

“Eliana, Sharon is way out of line! We should’ve reported her father back then,” Yvonne said, her voice trembling with rage and frustration. She hated seeing Eliana suffer like this.

Eliana’s face was covered in tears, and Dylan happened to catch her at her most vulnerable.

Just then, she heard the Ellington family butler’s voice at the door. “Has Ms. Hale arrived yet? Mr. Ellington is still waiting for her.”

Eliana glanced toward the entrance, utterly shocked. ‘Is Jonathan really waiting for Serena?‘ she thought in disbelief.

The bodyguard told the butler Nash what had happened, and the butler’s eyes went wide in shock.
