Serena’s eyes shone, her smile bright. “Nash, you’re not so old that I’d be able to fool you. Besides, I never lie. There’s no benefit in fooling you.
“But if you give me some benefit, maybe I’d consider fooling you.
“Just take the USB drive back. Once Mr. Ellington sees it, he won’t blame you. He’ll only blame himself for not covering his tracks.”
Nash chuckled, finally getting it. “You’re right, kiddo. You’ve always been sharp and sensible. Looks like Mr. Ellington is done for this time.”
Serena’s eyes sparkled, her smile even more brilliant. Right then, she was like a shining jewel in everyone’s eyes.
“He lacks integrity and betrays business ethics,” Serena said.
Nash got the message. “I’ll let you enjoy your meal now, Ms. Hale.”
As Nash was about to leave with the USB drive, he suddenly remembered something just as he reached the door.
‘Gotta help her save face first. It’ll make things easier later,‘ he thought.
He pulled Sharon, who was waiting outside, into the room and said in a serious tone, “Ms. Ellington, you’d better apologize to Ms. Hale right now. That’s what your grandfather wants.
“If you don’t, you’re not going home tonight, and all your credit cards will be frozen. You won’t have any money to use.”
Sharon looked at Serena with a wounded expression, bursting into tears. She was sobbing so hard that she could barely catch her breath.
“Stella, I just made a couple of snide remarks about you. How did I end up stirring up such a hornet’s nest? What’s so special about you that even my grandfather has to show you respect?” Sharon cried.
Selena smiled at her, her eyes glinting. “You got that last part right. I really am that amazing. Even your grandfather has to show me respect.” Serena’s gaze was cool, but her eyes burned with a deep, unquenchable anger.
Scared out of her wits, Sharon cried hysterically. “Stella, what gives you the right to make me apologize?”
Selena smiled, her gaze lazy and confident. “You don’t have to apologize if you don’t want to.”
Sharon stopped crying and stared at Selena. “Stella, how can you be so mean to me?”
Selena, still munching on her shrimp, asked casually, “Then why did you pick on me?”
Honestly, it felt satisfying to put people in their place, especially someone like a pampered princess like Sharon. She never lifted a finger. Every time she shed a tear, she acted like she was royalty.
“I just thought you seemed like a pushover,” Sharon sobbed.
Selena let out a sarcastic chuckle, a little pissed off. “Honestly, you look like a pushover right now. No need to apologize to me. Go apologize to your grandfather.
“You blew up his deal, so he’s the one who needs your apology way more than I do.”
Selena never pretended to be some kind of person. The only person she ever truly lost herself to was Dylan.

Sharon froze, the image of her grandfather’s stern face flashing in her mind.
She seriously had no clue her grandfather and Selena had any business going on together.

“Stella, I’m sorry, okay? I’m begging you. Please don’t call off the partnership. My grandpa will totally flip out on me,” Sharon pleaded.
Serena was getting annoyed. She looked at Nash and said, “Nash, take her back and teach her how to behave. Tell her not to bully others. Sure, it might feel good at the moment, but it backfires.
