Chapter 383
DEVOLGAN
Dylan gave a gentle smile, his smile like a soft spring breeze. “Goodbye, Ms. Hale. Next time we meet, I hope we can start over and get to know each other anew,”
Serena smiled calmly, looking into his smiling eyes. “Let’s talk about it next time.”
It might not be long before they met again. But she didn’t love Dylan anymore. No matter what he did, he probably wouldn’t be able to thaw the ice in her heart.
After Serena left with Yolanda, Spencer and Dylan sat there, weighed down by the heavy silence.
The soothing music in the private room put them at ease for no apparent reason.
Spencer took a swig of his drink. Knowing Dylan had a sensitive stomach, he didn’t pour him any.
His handsome features were set in a cold, somber expression. He knew why Dylan stayed behind and what he wanted to say. But he just didn’t want to hear it.
Dylan and Serena were already divorced, so there were no strings attached. They were free to love someone else.
He only pursued Serena after her split with Dylan, so he never crossed the line.
The two of them just sat there in silence.
After about five minutes, Dylan finally looked over at Spencer, gave a faint smile, and took his time before speaking. “Spencer, I’m sorry, but I just can’t wish you and Stella well like I used to. I read the letter she wrote to me. She’s loved me since she was seventeen.
“She gave me the best years of her life, and I’m not letting go. No matter who she marries, I’ll always stay by her side.
“But I won’t let that happen. The way she chased after me and treated me, from now on, I’ll chase her and treat her the same
way.
“No one ever taught me how to love someone. I spent all these years living in other people’s lies. When I finally woke up, it felt worse than death.
“I’m stuck in the abyss, and the only thing that keeps me alive is Stella.”
He was pouring his heart out. They’d been friends since childhood, and he didn’t want to mess up their friendship.
Spencer was wise and worldly. He always knew how to handle things.
Back when Serena was crazy about Dylan, she suffered just as much as he does now.
He used to feel content. Behind closed doors, Serena cared for him with all her heart. Meanwhile, Eliana was always on his
mind.
But in the end, he let Serena down in every way.
These days, he finally knew what it meant to miss someone so much it hurt to breathe. It was a restless torment, like being trapped in a bottomless abyss. The longing almost tore him apart from the inside out.
Spencer sneered, casting Dylan a cold glance.
“Dylan, you don’t have to say that to me. I only pursued Serena after you two split up. You don’t get to ask me to give up,” he

said.
Spencer stood up, his tall figure looming in the dim light, casting a shadow across the room.

His voice was full of sorrow. “Dylan, do you have any idea what it was like to watch her get hurt by you, and not even have the right to be by her side and comfort her? That kind of pain is unbearable.
