“Mommy, you’re back! Did you have dinner?” Liam asked cheerfully.

Liam had been smiling more and more, and his little cheeks were getting chubbier.

Serena picked Liam up, her eyes filled with warmth and love.

Edwin saw this and got upset. “Put him down! You really don’t know how to take care of yourself. Your wound hasn’t even healed yet. You’re a mom now, but you still make me worry so much.”

He was getting old, and he had no idea how much longer he’d be around for Serena.

Serena sat down with Liam in her arms, her smile always pure and warm whenever she was with Edwin. “Grandpa, honestly, we should’ve cut ties with Jonathan a long time ago. He was never going to make it anyway.

“Logan is much more reliable, so I gave them the partnership this time. Now that those two sides are at each other’s throats, we can just sit back and benefit from their squabble.”

Edwin smiled dotingly. “You really are a clever one, Serena. With Christmas coming up, things are going to feel a lot more festive this year with Liam here.”

Serena smiled, thinking to herself, ‘If I don’t step up and face the challenge, how can I ever go all out?”

Edwin let out a cold laugh, his eyes filled with a battle–hardened fierceness. “I warned Jonathan before. He tried to pull strings behind my back, thinking he could take me down, but I shut down every single one of his moves without hesitation.

“I told him, but he wouldn’t listen. He wanted to kill me and steal Cloudmere Group. He’s not worth any mercy.”

He’d just finished talking to Jonathan and made it clear there was no turning back.

Jonathan was probably throwing a fit right now.

Edwin revoked the partnership and even kicked him off the board. That was how he dealt with threats, cold–blooded and without blinking an eye.

Serena headed to one of the subsidiaries first, just to throw Jonathan off the scent. Meanwhile, Edwin found the perfect leverage against Jonathan in the boardroom and booted him out for good. This Christmas, they could finally relax.

Bennett came over with a fruit platter.

‘Ms. Hale, have some fruit with Liam,” Bennett said as she set it down. Watching Edwin walk away, she added, “Mr. Hale has been in such a good mood lately.”

Serena smiled warmly. “Bennett, Grandpa’s happy because he pulled one over on Jonathan.”

Bennett chuckled. “The victor reigns, and the defeated are forsaken.”

Serena smiled and pulled Liam onto her lap. They shared fruit together.

Not far from where Serena lived, Jonathan’s place was in an uproar.

In the extravagant, opulent hall, Jonathan, the head of the Ellington family, was furious. He was already seventy, but he didn’t show a hint of old age. Instead, he carried himself like a king among men, his aura dominating the room.

He glared furiously at his granddaughter, Sharon, his voice echoing like thunder. “You damn girl! Tonight’s contract was crucial for me, and your shameless behavior just gave Serena the perfect excuse to back out. Are you brainless or what?”
