With Christmas coming up, some kids were playing in the snow.

Noise came from outside.

Dylan frowned and looked out the window. The noise was coming from the villa next door.

It suddenly hit Dylan that he was in a room he didn’t recognize at all. He wondered, ‘Where the hell am I?

‘Is this where Stella’s been staying since the divorce?‘

Dylan watched Stella sleeping deeply. Careful not to wake her, he slipped out of bed, drew the curtains shut, and the room became much darker.

He spotted a pair of new slippers on the floor, put them on, and stepped out of the bedroom. After washing his face in the bathroom, he stepped out and wandered around the place.

The villa was small, only two floors, but it felt warm and cozy.

A wool coat was lying on the sofa, just his style, with the tag still hanging from it. Dylan smiled warmly, knowing Stella had bought it for him.

He felt like he was in a dream, and honestly, he couldn’t help but realize how weak he was. He’d only stepped out for a walk and ended up fainting from the cold right there on the roadside

Maybe it wasn’t so bad to pass out. At least Stella herself was the one looking after him.

Since the divorce, he hadn’t felt this kind of warmth and care.

Dylan slipped on the coat and headed outside. The storm had eased up a lot today, with the wind and snow much calmer.

He stood in the yard. It was small, but felt warm and inviting.

“Oh! Your family finally came back for Christmas!” The middle–aged woman next door saw Dylan and greeted him cheerfully.

Dylan nodded lightly. “Hello.”

The woman said, “Hello! I used to see your wife staying here. I remember she was expecting back then, and your child must be around three or four now, right?

“Haven’t seen you around since then. Now that you’re back for Christmas, things will be much more festive!”

Seeing how handsome Dylan was, the woman’s smile brightened even more.

Dylan was taken aback. He asked, “Are you saying my wife was living here while she was pregnant?”

He remembered that after Stella got pregnant, he would only come home every ten days or so, sometimes even less often.

I really have no idea how Stella managed everything on her own, Dylan thought.

The woman said, “Yeah, why didn’t I ever see you around back then? I only know you because one day both our houses lost power. My husband and I went over to help, and I saw your picture in a frame on your table.

“Stella said you were always busy with work and hardly ever came home. But honestly, no matter how busy you are, your

She gave an embarrassed smile. “Well, I won’t keep you any longer. I should get back to making lunch.

“Oh, by the way, I’ve got plenty of cakes. I’ll bring some over for you guys to enjoy during Christmas. Stella loves these. She was always craving them when she was pregnant.

“She used to bring little gifts for my kids all the time. Just leave the door open, I’ll be right over. The woman took a few steps, then suddenly remembered something.

Dylan smiled, “Sure! Thanks!”

Hearing the woman call Stella his wife, Dylan felt a sudden warmth in his chest; just those words made his mood unexpectedly lighter.

He made his way slowly across the yard, his footprints trailing behind him, deep in the snow.
