Serena thought it was such a coincidence. Her smile was awkward and a bit forced. She hadn’t meant to overhear anything.
She was just walking by, really, not on purpose. Anyway, she just happened to catch what was said.
Eliana said, and her voice dripped with bitterness, “Stella, seeing me like this, does it make you feel smug? Everything that’s happened to me is because of you.”
Serena wasn’t about to shoulder the blame. She rolled her eyes. “Eliana, seriously, do you have some kind of persecution complex?
“How many times have you tried to mess me up? Don’t pretend you don’t know. You brought this on yourself. Stop always pointing fingers at others and maybe take a look in the mirror for once.
“If you were so scared, you shouldn’t have lied to Dylan from the start. Since you did, you should’ve been ready to deal with the fallout.
“Even if I hadn’t called you out, did you really think your lies could last forever? You think you can hide your liver issues and your illness for life?”
i was momentarily at a loss for words. She thought, ‘Serena is right about everything, but things were just different

ther thing, Eliana,” Serena continued, “no matter how many truths I reveal, that’s still not a reason for you to let go to ruin.”
ana had always had that innocent look, but now, with her face artfully made up, she looked soft and refined. Her long, wavy hair tumbled down like seaweed, her waist was the kind people could wrap their hands around, and those long, perfect
he kind that made any guy’s blood run hot. Her body was pure temptation.
Jakai dumped Kaia to marry her.
Serena turned to leave, while Eliana’s eyes glinted with cunning intent.
‘Stella, tonight, I’ll make sure you’re utterly disgraced, Eliana thought.
Serena walked back to where Chris was waiting for her. She smiled and asked, “Is Jolie coming tonight?”
Chris nodded with a smile. “She should be. She and Leon still haven’t sorted things out. She told me to wait a bit. She wants to handle it herself.”
Chris’s eyes dimmed a little.
Nothing hurt more than feeling like the one who wasn’t needed.
Serena patted his arm, giving him a little nudge. “Chris, if you really like Jolie, don’t hold back this time, and just be brave and go after her.”
Chris’s
e face turned a shade of red, and he gave a reserved, almost bashful smile.
but laugh at his shy demeanor, feeling a bit embarrassed herself.

Chapter 425
“Come on, let’s head inside,” Serena said.
The ballroom was absolutely stunning. The place screamed luxury.
The city’s business elite had all shown up tonight.

Serena took Chris into Hall One to meet with some key business partners. Half an hour later, they finally stepped out.
Dylan and Spencer were having drinks together, their outstanding presence making them stand out in the crowd.
When they saw Serena walk out of Hall One, both of them looked genuinely surprised.
Neither of them was allowed in Hall One.
But Serena and Chris could come and go as they pleased.
Serena was dressed in a stunning outfit, looking like she belonged in high society.
Chris stuck close to her, making sure to stay quietly in the background.
Dylan found Chris really hard to stomach tonight. Just seeing him was enough to get on his nerves.
Serena and Chris were always together, coming and going side by side. Even if they were just coworkers, the way they stuck together was seriously hard to miss, and honestly, kind of annoying.
“Ms. Hale, Mr. Maddox!” Several familiar business associates came over to greet them.
Serena and Chris returned others‘ greetings politely.
Dylan and Spencer walked over with confident strides, their tall, athletic figures impossible to ignore.
Their long, lean frames moved with an easy elegance, but there was also a touch of that bad–boy vibe that made them even more popular.
Lots of girls came up to greet them, and the two responded with polite nods and friendly smiles.
They had barely reached Serena when a waitress accidentally ran right into her.
The drinks on her tray went flying, soaking Serena from head to toe.
The girl bowed her head in fear, her voice trembling as she stammered, “I–I’m so sorry, I didn’t mean to!”
It turned out to be Rosalia, Jolie’s best friend.
She was curvy, with a sweet, innocent face that could make any guy’s heart skip a beat.
Her skin was smooth, almost cherry–blushed, her lips plump and cherry–pink, and she was petite and adorable, totally the kind of girl that guys just couldn’t resist.
Just then, Jolie walked over. She glanced at Rosalia, then at Serena, and her anger flared. “Rosalia, you did that on purpose, didn’t you?”
