Someone noticed Serena and Chris and whispered, “Mr. Fallon, two people are coming over there. Could they be sent by the headquarters?”
Xavier quickly stood up. “Hurry. Put the cards away.”
He smiled as he rose. “Well, who might you two be?”
Chris kept a calm expression. “I’m Chris Maddox, the executive president sent by headquarters. This is my assistant, Ms. Hale.”
Xavier was momentarily stunned; he hadn’t expected they really were sent from headquarters.
“Oh, Mr. Maddox, you could have called ahead. We could’ve come to the entrance to meet you,” Xavier said.
Chris sneered, “If we had called ahead, would I have gotten to see you playing cards at work so early?”
Xavier gave a sly smile. “Mr. Maddox, we’ve already finished our tasks.”
“Finished your tasks? The company’s on the brink of collapse, and you managers are here playing cards? And you say there’s nothing wrong?” Chris cut him off sharply.

Chris glanced at the group. “According to company policy, leaders caught gambling or drinking at work will be fired. Mr. Fallon, please take them to the meeting room. I have a meeting.”

us.”
“It’s not that we don’t want to work hard, but these sudden acquisition attempts have made things harder,” Xavier argued, frowning.
‘Can a new executive president really take me down? I have powerful connections, Xavier thought confidently.
Chris, growing impatient, frowned. “You all go to the meeting room first. Have someone clean this place up. I don’t want to say this twice.”
Xavier nodded quickly. “Alright, alright. I’ll arrange cleaning immediately.”
His gaze shifted to Serena beside Chris, a wicked smile creeping onto his lips. ‘What a stunning beauty,‘ he

thought. “That figure is incredible.‘
Serena’s delicate eyebrows and eyes held unfathomable wisdom. Her outstanding aura was tempered by an imposing, untouchable dignity.
‘Chris sure is lucky to have such a beautiful assistant, Xavier mused.
Serena caught his ill–intent gaze, and her eyes flickered sharply.
Xavier shrank his neck nervously. ‘She’s beautiful, but she’s got thorns,’ he wondered.
Chris and Serena returned to the office.
