Serena: [Check Penny West and Rosalic Avery from Kingsbridge Hospital, see if there were any financial transactions between them back then.]
Serena couldn’t investigate this matter herself, but she could assign it to others.
No matter how cautious Beatrice was, she couldn’t guard against everyone in the world.
Besides, the fact that Serena kept hiding her identity could help lower Beatrice’s suspicions.
Lyra: [Got it, Serena. I’ll look into it as soon as possible.]
Serena put down her phone and stared at the bustling street. Her eyes grew moist.
Back then, Serena had gone to Dylan full of passion and hope, painting a bright future for herself and fighting hard for it, only to end up bruised and battered emotionally.
The ray of sunshine in Serena’s heart had turned into a harsh, blinding glare.
She smiled bitterly to herself, “Dylan, not anymore.”
She hailed a cab by the roadside and got in, heading to see Spencer.
Spencer was the head of the Grant family; two generations of them had been in the liquor business, making them one of the top influential families in Kingsbridge.
Since Spencer took charge three years ago, the Grant family’s business had flourished.
Once inside the car, Serena called Spencer. “Spencer, I’m heading to your company first. Let’s have dinner together. I’m free right now.”
Spencer was more than happy to hear that, his voice warm and smiling. “I was just about to come pick you up this afternoon. Come on over, I’ll wait downstairs for you.”
“Alright,” Serena replied, then hung up.
Late autumn was getting colder; yellow leaves danced in the chilly wind on the trees by the roadside.
The holidays were just a few days away. This year, she would finally spend Thanksgiving Day with her grandfather.
The Grant Group wasn’t far from the Ashford Group; their office buildings were separated only by another office tower.
When Serena arrived, Spencer was standing by the street waiting for her.
Dressed in a sharp suit, with a devilish charm and unparalleled handsomeness, Spencer exuded a rebellious charisma.

Chapter 56
Serena naturally liked men with a hint of wildness; she didn’t care for cold, distant types.
She had that kind of cold man in her past, the one who left for abroad when she was seventeen.
Since then, they had rarely kept in touch.
“Stella, you’re here,” Spencer said.

Serena opened the car door, stepping out with a faint smile on her red lips. “I know you’re busy. Why come out to wait for me? I just wanted to stop by your office.
“I used to work nearby, but I’ve never actually been to your company.”
Now that their companies were cooperating, Serena felt she should at least visit Spencer’s office.
“You’re welcome to come anytime. It’s just that you never really thought about it before,” Spencer replied, a hint of disappointment mixed with teasing in his tone.
Serena’s eyes flickered. After the Ashford Group stabilized, she’d gotten pregnant and stayed home to rest, but she still had to help with many things at the company.
She cut off her own memories.
‘I can’t keep going like this. Letting go of the past is the only way to live better. I’ve loved and fought hard; I won’t have regrets anymore. If I can find my child, then my life will be complete, she wondered.
In her mind, the image of Liam calling her “Mom” flashed again.
“Let’s go. I’ll take you upstairs. Now that our companies are partners, feel free to come by my office anytime. Or I can accompany you out to talk.” Spencer’s voice was gentle, his eyes warm with a sly, magnetic charm.
