Because Serena had called him, Dylan was restless and came to find Spencer for a chat.

Spencer looked at Serena gently. “Yes, I already have plans. Maybe next time.”

“Even if I disliked you, I wouldn’t hurt that child. You told me you would take the baby after it was born. Since I agreed, how could I harm the baby inside you?”

Dylan explained everything in one breath, feeling much relieved.

Serena stared at him coldly and unyieldingly. “I will continue investigating this matter until I get a satisfactory answer.”

“If it wasn’t you, then stay out of my investigation and don’t tell Eliana. But if you and Eliana are involved, I will personally make sure both of you pay for my son,” she added, her voice resolute.

Dylan frowned, a hint of dark hostility coloring his already sinister aura.

The lubricant incident had planted seeds of doubt in his mind, too.

“But why didn’t you tell me back then?” Dylan asked.

Serena’s heart ached sharply. She swallowed her pain.

She said, “Dylan, my child died. I held the funeral alone. I was heartbroken, and when I needed comfort most, you left for abroad. You must have gone to be with Eliana, right?”

Dylan tried to explain.

“Dylan, I heard you’ve been acquiring a fashion company these past few days for Eliana?” Spencer changed the subject, unwilling to dwell on the past.

That was the kind of warmth Serena had never seen from him.

Spencer’s deep eyes glinted with a smirk. “Dylan, for the woman you love, you really don’t hold back. I heard you offered 300 million for that company,”

“Yes, but they won’t sell. I’ll try again in a few days,” Dylan said.

The company had great prospects and was a well–established fashion house.

With a capable designer, its reputation could rebound quickly.

That was why Dylan kept a close eye on it.

But looking at the silent Serena across from him, Dylan felt hollow inside. Whenever he mentioned Eliana, Serena’s entire demeanor shifted uncomfortably.

‘Why is that? Didn’t Stella say she has a man she loves? After the divorce, why doesn’t she go to the man she likes? Or maybe she doesn’t have anyone she truly loves?‘ Dylan wondered.

His mind was a mess. He furrowed his brow and stood up, glaring sharply at the two sitting there. “I won’t disturb you two any longer. I’m leaving.”

There was an unrecognized jealousy in Dylan’s cold voice as he slipped one hand into his pocket and walked away with graceful ease.

Spencer glanced at Serena, seeing the pain radiating from her. He felt a pang of sympathy. “Stella, are you—”
