“He called the police and brought in multiple regulatory agencies for inspection. They tested the liquor supplied to our warehouse and found that all the alcohol provided by the neighboring supplier was counterfeit.”

This was a serious problem.

Once word got out that the bar was selling counterfeit alcohol, its business would collapse overnight.

Dylan’s expression darkened further. He thought of Eliana’s repeated assurances that her father would never sell counterfeit liquor.

Yet counterfeit alcohol had been discovered in Dylan’s bar, an outright humiliation.

“Eliana, I didn’t think Dylan would actually dig into this,” Jasper said. “That counterfeit alcohol is worth a fortune. A few tens of thousands in costs can turn into millions.

“With money that easy to make, why would I switch it out for the real stuff? Listen to me. Just keep Dylan sweet and push all the blame onto me.
