The dinner continued, but I could feel everyone’s eyes on me. It was a strange feeling, going from the girl they stepped on to the woman they are terrified of. Damon’s hand remained on my thigh under the table. After a while, the tension in the room became a little too much.
“I’ll be right back,” I whispered to Damon. He nodded and removed his hand from my thigh, hesitantly. I can’t tell.
I gave him a small smile and stood up I walked out of the hall, my long dress flowing behind me. I still can’t believe that Damon killed Edward’s father just like that. I needed to breathe, so I went to the restroom to freshen up. When I stepped back out, I decided to take the shortcut through the garden. The path led to the massive outdoor pool that connected back to the ballroom.
I wasn’t surprised when I saw a figure standing there, silhouetted by the moon.
Summer.
She looked a mess compared to her usual self; her always perfect hair was slightly frizzled from stress, and her eyes were Red. As soon as she saw me, her face twisted into a mask of pure hatred.
‘You think you’re so special, don’t you?” she hissed, stepping into my path. “Just because you crawled into the King’s bed? Newsflash, you’re still the pathetic Eloise that we all know. You’re a nobody, and he’s going to get bored of you and discard you like rash, and then you’ll have nothing.”
looked at her, my expression completely blank. I didn’t feel a thing; I didn’t feel the old sting of her words, I didn’t feel the urge to ry; I just felt… bored.
Are you done?” I asked in a flat tone. “I have a dinner to get back to.”
Summer’s jaw dropped. She was used to me stuttering or running away from the conversation; well, newsflash, I wasn’t the old Eloise. “How dare you speak to me like that? I am the golden daughter of this pack! You’re a stain on our family name.”
‘I guess that’s about to change, plus the family name doesn’t mean much when the King is about to erase it,” I replied to her coldly. ‘Move, Summer.”
Her eyes flash with a desperate kind of madness. She looked towards the ballroom doors and then back at the pool. A wicked smirk crossed her face.
“If I can’t make him hate you, I’ll make everyone else see what a monster you are,” she whispered. Suddenly, she started screaming at the top of her lungs. “No! Eloise, please! Don’t do it! I’m sorry! Help! Somebody help me!”
And then with a smirk and a dramatic gasp, she threw herself backward into the deep end of the pool. Splash!
I stood there, my arms crossed, watching her flail around. She was screaming and gulping down water, making it look like she was fighting for her life.
I knew she was a good swimmer, but she was putting on the performance of a lifetime, and it was entertaining to watch. The door to the hall flew open, and my brothers and parents came rushing out, followed by some other members of the pack. It’s safe to say that everybody in the hall came out to see what was happening.
“Summer!” Antoine yelled and dived into the pool without hesitation, pulling a shivering Summer out of the pool. She collapsed on the tiles, sobbing and coughing.

“She…pushed me. I…I told her I couldn’t….couldnt swim. She wants to kill me.”

My mother rushed forward, her face was distorted with rage. Before I could even blink, she reached out and delivered a stinging slap across my face.
SMACK!
Mt head snapped to the side. My cheek burned, but I didn’t make a sound. I slowly turned my head back to look at her.
“How dare you?” my mother shrieked with a trembling voice. “How dare you throw your sister into the pool knowing she can’t swim? Have you graduated to being a murderer now?”
I looked at my mother, then at my brothers, who were glaring at me as if I were a demon, and finally at Summer, who was smirking, faking her tears.
“She can swim quite alright. Plus, I didn’t do it.”
“Liar!” Julian shouted. “We heard her screaming. We saw you standing over her and watching her drown.” I took a deep breath. A thought came to mind, and a cold, dark smile made its way to my face. If they wanted a villain, they were surely going to get one.
‘You know,” I said, stepping towards the shivering Summer. “I was telling the truth. I didn’t touch her, but since you already slapped me for it, and since everyone thinks I’m the bad guy….”
reached for Summer and grabbed her wet shoulders, and with one powerful shove, I sent her flying back into the pool.
SPLASH!
‘Eloise!” my father roared. “What is wrong with you?”
Antoine and Julian started shouting, but I tuned them out because they were not important right now. The pack members all stood there, their eyes wide with shock.
I just stood there, smoothing down my dress, and looked at my brothers as they pulled a frantic–looking Summer out of the pool again.
“There,” I said, my voice echoing in the silence. “I didn’t do it the first time. But I did so you all wouldn’t look like liars. Now you actually have a reason to be mad.”
Suddenly, my phone pinged. I brought it out with grace and elegance, and I checked what message I had. It was a message from Damon, and I opened it to see that it was a video. I played it, and it showed how Summer threw herself into the pool while I stood there watching her, like the madwoman that she was.
